Felipe stood frozen, stunned by the slap. It took him a long moment to recover before he snapped back, “That’s a load of crap! Lady Valor wants me! Not that loser Cassian you keep obsessing over!”
“That’s right–don’t go o around making baseless accusations!” Mack added sternly, twisting facts with ease. “If Lady Valor hears about this, there will be consequences.”
“Is that so?” Raven looked coldly at Mack and Felipe. “Then let’s get confirmation, shall we?”
With that, Raven pulled out her phone to call Timonthy.
But before she could dial, Cassian leaned in beside her.
“Sweetheart, does it even matter who Lady Valor’s interested in? Either way, there’s no way I’m marrying her. She can choose anyone she likes. I doubt you really want the hassle of crashing a wedding just to get me back, right?” he whispered.
Raven’s finger hovered mid–air. She turned to Cassian in surprise.
‘Looks like Cassian really doesn’t know about my connection to the Cloudshadow Sect,‘ Raven thought. ‘If I really was the one who founded the sect back then, how could it be just a coincidence that we both lost our memories?‘
At this moment, the one who was conscious was not the real Cassian. If his more diabolical personality, Diabolus, was unaware of this memory, it would
make sense.
She would need to figure out a way to ask the real Cassian, once he woke up, if he knew anything about the Cloudshadow Sect.
Still, there was another possibility Raven could not rule out.
‘What if I’m not Lady Valor? What if they had simply mistaken my identity?‘ she thought.
Until she uncovered the truth, Raven knew she had to keep Cassian out of it.
“Of course, there won’t be any wedding–crashing, but let’s not forget–the Lady Valor of the Cloudshadow Sect is the leader of the dark powers. How could someone like Felipe possibly catch her eye?” Raven said.
“What do you mean, someone like me?” Felipe shot back, chest puffed up with ego. “That just shows Lady Valor has good taste.
“If she doesn’t want to marry me, why would she go through all the trouble of sending Timonthy with gifts to our family? Do you think the Cloudshadow Sect treats this kind of thing as a joke?
“Look at you, a lowborn from the lower realm, pretending to know what you’re talking about. You seriously believe I’m not worthy of Lady Valor, but that loser Cassian is?
“Don’t be ridiculous! Even if Cassian stood right in front of her, Lady Valor wouldn’t spare him a glance. Cassian’s got nothing going for him except a pretty face. And here in Forreb, we don’t value looks over substance.”
Felipe was clearly basking in the attention now. For once, in front of all the big shots of Frihamen City, he could finally hold his head high and show off.
People in the crowd began to chime in. “Mr. Cherry’s right. We Forrebians believe in marrying someone of the same standing.”

Even though some of them privately thought Felipe was too average and could not figure out why Lady Valor would choose him, the moment those engagement gifts arrived, the deal was as good as sealed.
