There was a look of shock on Ian’s face as he watched Ava kiss Dane. His fists tightened in anger. He let out a low growl, which caused the two people to break the kiss.
Ava was startled when she heard the growl. It shivered her body, pulling her away from Dane.
She looked at Dane with shocked eyes. She came to the realization that it was nothing more than a simple kiss without any feelings attached. It was just like the two people acting in front of cameras to fool others that they were enjoying.
Because when her lips touched Dane’s lips and he moved his lips against hers, she did not feel like how he felt when Ian kissed her. She tried to dismiss the thought, but only Ian’s face came to mind while kissing Dane.
The low growl made the people in the party startled. Ian’s eyes turned red in anger. He looked ready to go and yanked the two people away from each other.
However, Ronald was there beside him.
He gripped Ian’s arm. He noticed Ian was losing his mind. So he kept his voice low and spoke politely.
“Calm down, Alpha.”
Ian yanked his hand from his best friend and turned to his other friends. He noticed Stephen’s calm expression as if he did not mind his sister kissing Dane.
He glared at him and then looked away from him. He did not look at Ava again as he pushed Ronald out of his way and left the party.
On the other hand, Freya was holding a glass when she noticed Ava and Dane kissing. Her grip became so tight that the glass shattered against her palm.
By the time Ian left the hall, she had let go of the glass. It made a sound, grabbing others‘ attention.
Beta Bruno rushed up to her and took her hand. “What happened to your hand?”
Freya felt tears welling up in her eyes. She yanked his hand away and said, “I don’t want your help, brother. Please just leave me alone. I hate you all.”
Ava moved away from Dane. “I–I am going to my friends,” she mumbled, backing away.
“Ava”
Abigail called her from behind as she walked in the opposite direction. Ava tightened her jaw and turned to face Abigail. Debra was standing next to her.
“You just kissed Alpha Dane,” Abigail said.
“I know,” Ava said, lowering her gaze.
“Why are you not happy, Ava? You should be happy that you kissed your man,” Debra asked.
Ava blinked her eyes, feeling the urge to cry. She had no idea why, but she was not feeling well inside.
Her wolf was whimpering inside and kept chanting.
“You hurt our mate.”

She clenched her fists and stared at her friends.
Abigail and Debra were surprised to see tears in Ava’s eyes. They immediately hugged her.
“Ava, why can’t you see what you want? Why are you forcing yourself to do something you do not want?” Abigail spoke up, realizing what was going on.
Ava broke the hug and shook her head. She wiped the corner of her eyes and forced herself to smile.
“No, it’s not like that. It’s just my and Dane’s first kiss. So-”
“First kiss?” Debra asked with a frown.
Ava looked away from them. Debra cupped her face before turning to face her.
“Ava, if you don’t love Dane,. Please don’t push yourself. If you still have feelings for Ian, accept it. It is evident to us that you are unhappy with Dane. You are just pretending to be.”
Abigail stroked her hair and tried to persuade her best friend of the truth, which she refused to accept. “Ava, don’t be confused with your feelings. Admiration and love are not the same. Don’t twist your life when you already have a mate. You still have time before it will be too late. Take a step toward Dane only if you really love him.”
Ava did not understand what she was feeling inside. How would she get an answer? Since she had already made a promise to Dane, she was unwilling to forgive Ian. While she remained faithful to Dane, her wolf was devoted to Ian.
She thought that tonight she would talk to Dane about it. She turned around and saw Dane was not in his place.
“I need to talk to Dane.”
She then looked for Dane in the hall. She ran into Beta Bruno, who frowned at her.
“Beta Bruno, where is Dane?”
Bruno glanced at the main door and replied with a grin. “He is where he should be.”
“What?”
“He is leaving the party with someone he truly cares about. He did not like it when she got hurt.”
Ava did not argue with him and rushed outside to find Dane The sight of Dane cradling Freya in his arms astounded her. He slid her into the back seat and got into the car,
Dane was hugging Freya in his arms, not even noticing her who was standing outside the car.
Her eyes fixed on him when the car drove past her.
His actions made Ava feel hurt. Didn’t he say he had nothing to do with Freya? What had happened to him suddenly?
When the car vanished from view, she lowered her head.
She was on the edge of losing herself. She did not know where to go.
With tears in her eyes, she hailed a cab and left for her home.
She cried the entire way, heartbroken. She thought Dane liked her, but why did he leave the party with Freya, leaving her all alone? He did not even tell her about leaving

Upon reaching her home, she began to make her way there
From behind the cab, the cabbie said, “Miss, you haven’t paid the bill.”
She was so lost that she forgot to pay. She smiled at the man sadly and paid him.
When the cab left, she turned around and went to the front door of her house. She opened the door with her key since there was no one in the house. Her parents were not at home, and Stephen was at the party. Given that he had previously mentioned that all of his friends would be spending the last at Ronald’s house, Stephen did not seem to come back home tonight.
Ava opened the door with her head low. She was very upset
She closed the door behind her.
Taking a deep breath, she went upstairs.
She went into her room and closed the door. She found the room dark.
Just as she turned on the lights, a hand grabbed her hand and pushed her back against the door.
