Ava, why did you decide to leave now?” Ava’s mother, Angela, said with tears in her eyes.
When she and Harper returned home, Ava said she was leaving tonight. She was shocked to hear that, as well as Harper.
“Mom, Dad, I told you that I would be here for my birthday. My birthday had passed, but I remained here for the competition. Since everything is over now, it’s time for me to return to where I belong.”
Her voice was calm, just like her face. There was no emotion in her eyes that could show her inner feelings.. Angela wondered if anything had happened to her daughter. She had spent her entire life protecting her daughter from the Thunder Howl Pack, convinced that Alpha Dane would force her into a relationship. Ho
er, after learning that Ian had rejected her daughter as her mate and that Dane treated her gently, Angela realized Dane was the ideal match for her. Ava and Dane were fated, and her ex–husband’s decision was not wrong when he promised to marry Ava off to Dane.
“If you need anything, just remember to call me,” Harper said.
Ava nodded at him with a polite smile. She hugged him, feeling as if he was the only man who had never hurt her.
“Dad, please take care of Mom and yourself.”
At that time, Stephen entered the house. Angela and Harper had informed him that Ava was leaving.
“Why so suddenly, lil sis?” Stephen asked, hugging Ava.
“I have to leave, Steph. I will come again after some time to meet you all,” Ava replied.
Stephen let out a sigh. He did not want his little sister to leave. But nothing was in his hands. He assumed she did not want to live in this pack anymore because of Ian.
He carried her luggage and placed it in the bonnet of his car He would drop her off at the airport.
After waving at her parents, Ava got in the car with Stephen
He gazed at her and asked, “Is it because of Ian?”
Hearing Ian’s name, Ava felt her heart shake. She turned her head to look outside the window. “Tell him to find someone who suits him and mark her.”
Stephen exhaled, shaking his head. “I can’t tell him anything just like I don’t talk to you about him. He does not speak to us anyway. He is in his own world, focusing on leading the pack rather than talking about his life.”
Ava gave him a nod. “That’s good. He should do that.”
She recalled what had happened last night.
When she asked him about his back, he only said,
“Why do you care? Since you don’t accept me as your mate, you should not care about me either.”
Then he left her room without looking back.
Her eyes reflected those wounds, which resembled tree branches. She closed her eyes to block the thought from her mind.

When they arrived at the airport, Stephen assisted Ava and guided her to the boarding pass.
Before she could get there, Ava heard her name yelled from behind.
She turned around to see her two best friends waving at her and running toward her.
Abigail and Debra hugged her tightly.
“You cheat! You were going to leave without meeting us again?” Debra spoke with tears in her eyes.
Stephen looked at Debra, with surprise. He had never seen her cry; he could not even think that this strong–headed woman could tear up.
“Ava, take care of yourself,” Abigail said in an upset tone, hugging her again.
Ava smiled at them and nodded her head. “I will. See you again.”
Abigail looked around and asked,
“Where is Dane?”
While asking about Dane, she sounded angry, which confused Stephen. He was not aware of what had happened between Dane and Freya. However, he didn’t ask anything.
“I am here.”
A voice spoke from behind them. Ava’s friends turned and saw Dane approaching them.
Wearing a dark suit with sunglasses, he looked decent and less aggressive.
Ava’s friends only saw him treating their friends well. However, Ava had told them about Dane and Freya. Ava didn’t tell them about Dane sleeping with Freya, she only told them about their mate bond.
Ava’s friends did not want Ava to be with Dane anymore. Because they think Freya might cause issues for them later on. They felt that Ava should give Ian one last chance since he was her fated mate.
Ava glanced at Dane for a moment and then looked away. He came to stand next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, then looked at Stephen.
“I am taking your sister with me. Don’t worry about her.”
He then looked at Ava’s friends, who gave him a nod in greeting. He nodded at them back and leaned his head to
Ava.
“Let’s go.”
Ava gave her brother and her friends a last wave and turned around with Dane.
She left the pack with him, leaving her past behind once again.
