Aya gave them a puzzled look. “Who?”
Debra pushed Abigail and walked over to Ava and said, “Don’t listen to her. She is just pulling my leg for nothing Such a bad friend!”
Suddenly Ava recalled the interaction between Stephen and Debra. She wondered if Abigail was talking about him.
However, she dismissed the thought because she knew her brother would never chase any girl like that. After all, he was one of the members of the Power Gang. Those boys did not chase women; women pursued them.
She was about to ask who it was again, but she stopped by a ringtone. She saw who had called her.
She received the call and spoke, “Beta Bruno.”
Debra turned her head to Abigail, making faces at her. Abigail glared at Debra, indicating not to tease her.
Ava smiled when she noticed her friends‘ silent bickering..
“Freya is coming back to the pack today. So I am not going to come to the company. Tell Alpha I would spend some time with her.”
Hearing about Freya, Ava felt awkward. She recalled the day when Freya told her that she was Dane’s mate.
Ava felt that she had come between two mates. Even though she did not want to be in this situation anymore, Dane was holding her by his will.
“You can tell him on your own,” Ava said.
“You know I don’t talk to him. You can just inform him through someone else.”
After saying that, he hung up.
Ava sighed, thinking about the argument that had happened a week ago after they had returned to the pack.
Bruno was mad at Dane because Freya had told him everything about the night. Dane said to Bruno that he would not accept her as his mate because he was being set up with Ava from the beginning.
“What happened?” Abigail asked.
Ava shook her head and said she had worked in the office. Then she left the house.
When she reached the office, she told the manager about Bruno and let Dane know about it.
The people around them could see Dane and her getting distant from each other.
“I bet he broke up.”
“Something must have happened in the Mystic Shadow Pack.”
“Yeah. Alpha still cares about her. Why has Miss Taylor turned so cold toward him?”
Ava overheard the gossip of the workers in the company. Everyone had the same question, and she had been hearing about it every day now. So she chose to ignore their gossip.
She applied for a leave from the company.
Dane called her into his room and asked,

“Is there any special reason for the leave?”
She looked at him without having any feelings in her heart for him. She replied calmly,
“My friends came here to spend their vacation. I want to give them some time.”
He gave a nod of agreement. When she was about to leave his cabin, Dane spoke from behind.
“This weekend…”
She paused without turning around to him, waiting for him to continue.
“This weekend I am throwing a birthday party. You will have to come.”
Ava lowered her gaze to the floor. This weekend was Dane’s birthday.
She let out a sigh and replied,
“I will come.”
After that, she left the cabin.
She went downstairs and was on her way to the lobby when she noticed a man sitting in the lounge area.
“Brother Griffin”
He got to his feet and hugged her. “Why are you so surprised? Have you forgotten about our plan? You said we would meet this evening.”
Ava almost forgot about it. She was considering going to her friends, who had come to stay with her for a week.
She told him about her friends. He asked if he could accompany her. Ava agreed and called her friends.
Abigail received the call.
“Ava”
“Where are you
two?”
“We have come to visit the eastern gate. People said it was a good tourist destination, so we came.”
“Oh.”
The eastern gate was a long way from her company. She could not reach there in two hours, so thinking about going to them was not a good idea.
“Okay, I am with Brother Griffin now. You can call me when you arrive at my house.”
“Sure. No worries. We do not think we will be able to reach your house before midnight. We heard that at 12 a.m., there would be a show for all of the tourists. Debra wants to see that.”
“But it’s not safe all alone there,” Ava reminded her in worry.
“We found our friends here. Don’t worry. They will be with us.”
“Friends?” Ava mumbled.
She blinked, trying to remember which friends she was talking about.
