I felt a vague sense of unease in my heart and hurried home.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw Shereen.
Under the dim glow of the streetlamp outside, I noticed she was holding a syringe filled with bright red blood.
“Theresa, you did this on purpose, didn’t you?” Her expression was twisted with malice. “You knew Nicholas would despise me. You wanted to use him to get revenge on me.”
I took a step back, gripping the doorknob, ready to run, but she noticed my movement.
“Don’t move. If you run, I’ll stab this syringe into you. I’m not afraid of dying anyway.”
She was completely insane.
At this hour, my bodyguards had already gone off duty, so there was no one to protect me. I swung my handbag at her with all my
strength. Then, I yanked open the door and bolted. O
I ran as fast as I could, while she chased after me like a madwoman, even throwing the syringe at me. Luckily, I dodged in time.
In the end, I rushed to a nearby police station and reported her.
Unfortunately, Shereen had already disappeared. She had gone into hiding.
The police immediately launched a search for her.
Someone like her had to be caught. Otherwise, she would continue to be a danger to others.
After that incident, Shereen remained in hiding for a long time.
During this time, I came across a shocking news article–Nicholas had escaped. While in prison, he had been coughing up blood
due to AIDS and was granted medical parole. He used this opportunity to flee. (1
That night, he came looking for me. He climbed in through my window. (1
It had only been a short while since I last saw him, but his arms and neck were covered in sores. His face had changed completely.
His cheeks were so sunken that he barely looked human anymore.
