Book 2: Chpt 9: Souls In Conflict
What’s your decision?”
1 clench my jaw and say out loud
In
Korean, “I will cooperate with you. I will
be
in your care.”
“What does that mean? I’m thought.
Sorry, I’ll
Korean. Just nod your head and tell me you
are all right?” This mate thing was going to be more annoying their
I think for a second. “I am… am… fitfine.” Speaking in English was more challenging than I ever thought it would be. I nod my head and stagger to my feat As comforting as being in his arm is, it also sickens me that I feel that way. I don’t want him to be a comfort or a safe haven. I don’t want this forced relationship, but it’s the only way I will survive. Who knew I would become a prisoner in my own body and my jailer was my joint wolf spirit?
I look down at James Ashwood. He’s still on his knees and looking me up and down. Not in a suggestive way but like a parent would look over a child for injuries. I feel odd. This level of care is uncomfortable. I would prefer he look at me with a perverted gaze like the others had before. There’s a knock on the door.
“Father and the other Alphas are here. Don’t think for a second you are leaving with them.” Of course, Han Yong–rae yells in Korean.
“What did he say?” James stands to his feet, takes one step, and is between me and the door.
“He say… yooour Alllpha is here.” I hope this gets easier to speak in English. I step around James and slide the door open. Han Yong–rae is still standing there.
James comes and puts me behind him, blocking Han Yong–rae from even looking at me. I giggle and whisper as I pass with James. “You have no power, little mutt.”
All of a sudden, James has Han Yong–rae’s arm twisted behind his back and pressed up against the wall. “Try touching her again, and I’ll rip your arm off.
I cannot fight the satisfied smile on my face as I see Han Yong–rae struggle to no avail. If I cannot resist my destiny, then I might enjoy what I can of it. I nod, and James lets Han Yong–rae go; it’s like having my own attack dog; I have to find a bright side. We follow Yong–rae through the pack house to a large ornate set of doors. The smell of mutts is overpowering, but there’s something else as well… power. I don’t know if I can feel or smell it, but it makes me and Kwan bow our heads as the doors open.
