Chapter 10: Depth of lies
James
“Try touching her again, and I’ll tip your arm off.” I snart out at Han Yong rae. He was trying to grab An jieun, to Fitted his arm Behind his bark red pressed him up against the wall. He stops struggling, and An Jieun gives me a nod. I let him go, but I really wanted to rip it off.
We followed him down the hall. Rafe and I are on high alert, I have never been more ready for a fight, and that’s saying something since I bought during the night of raids. I mind–link, dad, “We are getting close. What has this pack Alpha said?*
“Nothing, really. I think he’s been busy communicating with his pack. I’m not sure what’s going on, but Logan and Gideon are with me, don’t worry”
“Dad, her own brother, and mother tried to harm her, and she doesn’t have a pack mark, and her family name is different. We cannot leave her here: if we were not in a foreign country and had our pack here, I would have caused some serious damage and got An fieun out of here that way, but I have to stay nice, kind of.
“Kaan, is on edge. Nothing feels right, but we will get to the bottom of it. I’ll see you in a moment, son.” Dad ended the conversation. Kaen, dad’s will, has an extremely dominant presence; he’s even more terrifying in person. Pitch black with black eyes. Honesty Kaan looks more like a villain than anything else.
If dad is letting Kaan have some control, that shows how uncomfortable dad is.

As we get closer to the large, ornately carved double doors, I can feel not only dad’s Alpha aura oozing out but Logan and Gideon’s too. I let out a bresh and relaxed a bit. That strong presence feels like a hug and reminds me I’m not alone. My family is here.
The door opens, and An Jieun stops in her tracks and bows. Han Yong–rae’s knees buckle, and he drops to the floor. I forget that this aura is over power to others. I look around and see Rylie is already here next to his dad. Gideon is here trying to look as intimidating as possible. The Alpha couple is scowling a
An Jieun and me, but I don’t care. Everyone is standing, and the tension in the room could choke you.
Everyone is quiet, just staring at An Jieun; I guess I have to get things started. “Dad, this is An Jieun, my mate. An Jieun, this is my father and Alpha of the Ashwood Pack, John Ashwood.”
“Miss An Jieun, please lift your head. You are family now.” Dad was gentle with his tone so as not to scare An Jieun more. An lieun slowly looks up, and dad takes a step closer.
“Copper eyes.” He sniffs the air around An Jieun, “You’re not an ordinary wolf, are you, kid.” He steps back with a smirk on his face. “So, what are you?”
“She’s just a human, not good enough to be Luna of your pack.” Alpha Han blurts out.
“Alpha Han Sung–ho, it doesn’t matter if she’s human or wolf. If the goddess has chosen your daughter as my son’s mate, then she is more than qualified.” Dad stood tall and let his Alpha aura leak out.
“No, no. Not my precious daughter.” Han Sun–ho took a step and tried to grab An Jieun, but she stepped back with lightning–quick speed.
“LIER!” An Jieun screamed and grabbed my arm, hiding behind me.
That’s it. I’ve had enough. I don’t care if it’s disrespectful. “Don’t touch her! What the fuck is going on here!” I growl out.
“James language.” Dad snaps. He’s not one for swearing, but I don’t really care right now.
“She’s my daughter, and I say no. She cannot leave Han Sung–ho snaps back.
“Alpha Han Sung–ho, I suggest you tell me what’s happening right now. You and I both know your daughter will leave with my son, and you can do nothing about it.” Dad’s leaking aura fills the room and it has the Han family dropping to the floor from the pressure. I put my arm around An lieun to keep her standing. She digs her fingers into my arm.
“Why did your son and your mate try to attack An Jieun? Why doesn’t she have your family name, Han? And why isn’t she part of the pack? You say she’s * human, but I know that’s a lie; I saw her shift into a form I’ve never seen before, so start talking.” I hoover over him and push my aura out, and I see him
struggle to breathe under the pressure of both my father and me.
“i eoliseog–eun sonyeo, dangsin–eun jeoju–ibnida” Han Sung–ho looks at An lieun and screams in Korean.

An licaun glares at him, “I am curse you made.” Curse? What the hell did he say to her?
“Alpha Han Sung–ho, we are not going to ask you again. What is going on here?” Dad growled out. Now Gideon, Logan, and Rylie were all pushing but then Alpha auras. Did he not get he didn’t stand a chance.
“I’ll tell you. Please stop. My mate and son can’t breathe!” I look behind me and see Han Yong–rae lying on the floor, gasping for breath, I would have been concerned an hour ago, but now, it gives me a little joy.
Gideon crouches down next to Han Sung–ho, “talk.” He looks at An Jieun, “do you speak English, little Luna?”
“Understand good. Speak not good.” That was the clearest I had heard An Jieun’s voice.
“Good. If he lies, tell us. If you dare to lie, you will not like the consequences. You understand Alpha Han?” Gideon stood back up and crossed his arms. No one was sitting. This was a show of complete dominance.
“Yes, I will talk, no more, please.” Han Sung–ho looks up and glares at An Jieun. “That girl is my daughter and my curse.” I was about to kick him when dad put an arm out to stop me.
“Alpha Han, what is your daughter?” Dad wanted answers.
“She is part wolf and..” Han Sung–ho dropped his head. “part Gumiho.”
“What is a Gumiho?” Dad looked An Jieun up and down as he asked.
“nine tail fox god.” An Jieun didn’t let Han Sung–ho answer. She stood tall and proud. I felt like my eyes were going to pop out of my head. Did she say, god? Was that the weird form I saw her in, a fox with a bunch of tails?
“Where is her mother? What have you don’t with a goddess?” Dad was beyond angry. We were not gods but supernatural beings. We respected the gods, and the last thing we would ever do was mess with one. Here stands a half–wolf half–goddess, and they were trying to drag her away. This can’t be good.
“Dead.” Han Sung–ho snarled out. “She will kill your son if you take her with you. She’s dangerous, just like her mother.”
“Yet you’re alive, and she’s not. If you don’t want me to report this to the International Council and have your whole family and pack destroyed for meddling with the gods, you will tell me every last detail.”
