Wendy was inside her villa when she opened the front door to find a tall, handsome figure standing there–it was Stanley.
Why was he here? Wasn’t he supposed to be having dinner with Jessica?

Stanley smiled faintly. “You’re back to calling me Mr. Hawk? That sounds so distant. We’re supposed to get married.”
The nerve of him to bring that up!
Wendy stared at him. “Yes, we were, but you never showed up, remember?”
“Please let me explain.”
“Sure. I’m giving you a chance now. Fire away.”
“Please let me in. I’ll explain everything once I’m inside.”
Wendy hesitated for a moment, then opened the door and let Stanley in.
They moved to the living room, where Stanley reached out and gently took hold of Wendy’s arm. “Are you angry at me?”
Her expression was cold. “I’m not.”
Stanley raised an eyebrow. “But you look angry. You waited for me all day at the courthouse, didn’t you? And I didn’t show up. That’s why you’re angry.”
Inside, Stanley felt pleased. Wendy being angry at him meant she still cared, that she loved him deeply.
Despite all the years and hardships, their hearts had never truly drifted apart.
Wendy looked at Stanley. “Do you find this funny? Do you enjoy toying with
me like this?”
Stanley shook his head. “I’m not playing games. I had my reasons for not going to the courthouse that day.‘
“What reasons? Tell me.”
Stanley paused, unsure how to explain, as he still hadn’t figured out the full truth himself.
His silence only made Wendy angrier. “If you have nothing to say, then you can leave now.”
She began gathering her things.
That was when Stanley noticed something on the table. He quickly picked it up.

“What’s this?” He looked closely–it was two plane tickets. “You’re planning to leave?”
She nodded. “Yes. I’m taking Bella with me.”
If he didn’t want to get the license and marry her, then she had no reason to stay. Letting him in earlier was her giving him a chance, and giving herself a chance for them to be together.
Yet, he said nothing. So now, she was leaving the Capital with Bella
Stanley’s voice grew firm. “You can’t take Bella away. I won’t allow it!”
Wendy smiled bitterly. “Be reasonable. Why can’t Bella and I leave Now, please leave. I heard you had dinner plans with Ms. Larson. You shouldn’t keep her waiting.”
