Ida would never doubt her witchcraft. After all, she had used witchcraft the last time to win against Brittany. How could her Heartchain Curse possibly fall on Stanley?
Ida said to Jessica, “You must be mistaken. Once the Heartchain Curse is cast, it doesn’t just disappear like that. It can’t lose its power so easily.”
Jessica wasn’t convinced. “But it did! Stanley was with Wendy aga!”
Ida’s mind raced, trying to figure out where things had gone wrong. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed several figures standing by the door.
Stanley, Wendy, and Halsey were there.
It wasn’t just them–Horace and Brittany had arrived as well.
Everyone was here.
Suddenly, it all clicked. This was Stanley’s setup. He had brought everyone here, hoping to catch her red–handed.
However, Ida was determined not to be exposed.
Horace still didn’t know about her Coldost witchcraft.
Ida turned to Jessica. “You don’t look well. Why don’t you go home and rest? We can talk another time, okay?”
She shot Jessica a subtle look, hoping Jessica would understand the hint.
But Jessica didn’t get it. She was facing away from the door, so she couldn’t see the people gathered there. Besides, she was frantic and couldn’t wait even a second.

Ida’s dismissive words made Jessica furious, and she grabbed Ida’s hand. “What do you mean? I don’t want to wait until later! We’re talking now! Why did the Heartchain Curse fail on Stanley?”
Ida was dumbfounded. She hadn’t expected Jessica to be such a liability, completely ignoring her silent warning. Now with those people watching at the door, she was about to be exposed.
So Ida said, “I know you love Mr. Hawk, but feelings can’t be forced
Jessica quickly cut her off. “What are you talking about? You tried to help me get Stanley! You put the Heartchain Curse on him!”
“Enough!” Ida snapped, cutting her off sharply. “I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
“I’m talking about the Heartchain Curse-”
“What Heartchain Curse? I don’t understand what you mean!”
Ida took a couple of steps forward, shifting her position to try to get Jessica facing the door, so she could see the people standing
there.
But Jessica was so focused on Ida that she didn’t notice them at all
“Why are you pretending not to know? You practice Coldost witchcraft! You put the Heartchain Curse on Stanley, and years ago, you put a curse on Brittany, which caused her to almost die in childbirth—”
“Shut up! Just shut up!” Ida shouted fiercely.
Jessica froze, startled by the intensity of Ida’s outburst.
