Horace and Brittany stepped forward in shock. “Stanley!”
Halsey’s face darkened as well.

She slipped her arm through Stanley’s and smiled sweetly. “I’m so glad you changed your mind. Let’s get married as soon as possible. Becoming your wife has always been my dream.”
Stanley glanced at Jessica, but said nothing.
Ida looked at Horace, Brittany, and Wendy’s defeated expressions, and felt a rush of satisfaction. Tormenting them, making sure they had no peace–that was her goal.
“Congratulations, you two,” Ida said to Jessica and Stanley with a smile.
Just then, Angela arrived with Bella. “Stanley, are you really going to marry Jessica?”
Bella ran over to Wendy’s side. “Mommy…”
Wendy picked up her daughter and kissed her on the cheek. “Bella…”
Jessica looked at Angela. “Mrs. Angela, you’ll soon become my mother–in–law.”
Angela frowned and glanced at Stanley. “Marriage is a serious matter. You need to think this through carefully.”
Stanley pressed his lips together. “I’m marrying Jessica.”
His tone left no room for argument.
Ida smiled. “Angela, let’s pick a date. I think the fifteenth of this month would be perfect. We’ll hold a grand wedding so Mr. Hawk and Jessica can tie the knot.”
She turned to Horace and Brittany. “Horace, Brittany, you both must come to bless the happy couple.”
“Your blessing would mean the world to me,” Jessica said to Wendy with a smile.
Wendy’s expression remained cool and distant. “Don’t worry. I’ll definitely be at the wedding.”
Bella, in her toddler voice, called out, “Daddy…”
At only three years old, Bella couldn’t understand the grown–up conversations happening around her.
Stanley stepped forward and kissed Bella on the forehead. Listen to Mommy, okay?”
Bella nodded. “Okay…”
Jessica beamed. “Bella is absolutely adorable! I really like her. From now on, I’ll treat Bella like my own.”
Wendy held Bella tightly. “Thanks, but I’m Bella’s mother. You don’t need to worry about that.”
Jessica wasn’t bothered. “Sure. After Stanley and I marry, we’ll have our own children anyway. Stanley, you don’t have a son yet. I’ll give you one someday.”

Jessica looked at Stanley with pure happiness, then threw a challenging glance toward Wendy.
Stanley’s refined, handsome face remained calm and unreadable.
“I’m leaving,” he said quietly.
