Suddenly, Wendy frowned and bent over, vomiting.
She hadn’t eaten much that day, so there wasn’t much to come up, but the queasy feeling was overwhelming.
Horace and Brittany grew anxious. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling sick?”
“Did you eat something bad?” Angela asked.
Wendy lifted her hand to her wrist, feeling her pulse. A faint shiver passed through her slender fingers.
Halsey’s voice was urgent. “What’s going on?”

Hearing that Wendy was pregnant, Horace, Brittany, Angela, and Halsey didn’t hesitate. They rushed her to the hospital for
tests.
Even though Wendy was a doctor, she still needed professional prenatal care.
Soon, the doctor came out. Everyone crowded around.
“How is Wendy?”
“Congratulations,” the doctor said, “Ms. Crone is definitely pregnant. And she’s expecting twins!”
Wendy was having twins.
Angela gasped. “Twins? Oh, my! Wendy’s having twins! We’ve never had twins in our family before. Wendy’s such a blessing!”
Wendy came out of the exam room.
Brittany caught her, beaming. “You’re having twins!”
Wendy wasn’t surprised. When she took her pulse earlier, she already sensed it.

Wendy’s expression was firm. “That’s why I can’t tell him. For his sake, he can’t know about the pregnancy.” Stanley was trapped by the Heartchain Curse. He would die if he came back.
Halsey frowned. “But that’s not fair to you!”
Wendy rested her hand on her belly, feeling the new life growing there–two little angels on the way.
“I’ll handle things with Stanley in my own time. For now, you all stay out of it. I’ll tell him when the moment is right.”
