She looks so peaceful, sleeping with the morning sun dancing on her cheeks. It almost feels like a crime to wake her. She must be tired because I feel like I’m going to drop. “An Jieun, wake up we’re here.” She slowly opens her copper–colored eyes. She’s definitely a fox. I help An Jieun out of the car. She seems OK with holding my hand now.
“You all should come with me.” I know that voice. I turn around and my oldest sister is standing in front of the hotel doors. I see her eyes go directly to An Jieun. I hid her behind me.
“Am, it’s been a long night we need to sleep.” I don’t know what it is, but the way Am is looking at An Jieun is just unsettling.
“This is more important than sleep. Dad, Gideon, and Logan, you need to come along as well.” Am’s face was so stiff. Was she mad? I haven’t even introduced her to my mate yet.
“Am, what’s going on?” Gideon grabs my sister’s hand.
With a clenched jaw she says, “Your grandmother is here.”
Gideon looked shocked as hell. He just nodded and followed. I didn’t think Gideon had any other family members. I take An Jieun’s hand, she squeezes it and I look down. I can feel the tiniest tug of fear coming from her. “Don’t worry, that’s my oldest sister. You’re with my family now. I promise you’re safe.” An Jieun nods and we follow behind everyone into what I guess is a privet tea room or something. L

I see my nieces and nephews climbing all over an older woman sitting on the floor. She has an odd feel to her. She’s not a wolf but she’s not human. I push An Jieun behind me again.
The twins go running to Dad. “Ganpa, ganpa come play with us and gamma Itty.” Daisy is jumping around Rose tugs on Dad’s arm and he’s helpless but to follow.
The mysterious woman turns to greet us and I’m shook. Those green eyes are the same as Gideon’s and both sets of twins. How?
“I am Ithildin Alois the first Luna of the Druit Guard. I am a Vanir from Alfheim or more simply put
e steps an elf. Please sit, we have much to discuss. Oh yes, let me take a look at our demigod. toward us and I guard An Jieun, I don’t want anything to happen to her.
“James knock it off before I knock you out you brat. She’s not going to do anything geez.” Am rolls her eyes and I guess I do look a little stupid. My instincts are on overdrive right now and I haven’t

slept. I feel like I’m going crazy.
I step aside and Ithildin takes a hard look at An Jletin. “You don’t know how Important you are What’s your name child?”
“An Jieun.” Her voice is soft but clear.
Ithildin chuckles softly, “Hidden within. Appropriate.” What does that mean? I’m so confused. Please
everyone have a seat.
An Jieun just looked shocked. We all took a seat. Luna Ithildin explained who she was in detail and that she acts as a messenger for the goddess. I have never met any other supernatural being before now I’ve met two and one is my mate. My head is on tilt.
“Alphas, please know I have limited details, but I am here today because a war has started under our noses.” The room went dead silent, Ithildin continued. “The new moon alliance was not acting alone,
there is a large coven of witches using supernaturals on the fringes to gain power.”
“A bunch of humans making herbal tonics and playing with crystals is hardly caused for alarm.” Alpha Logan scoffs.
“Have you ever stopped to think how Amelie was fooled by Tate? You can’t just pretend to be someone’s mate. They somehow synthesized the mating pheromone. They teamed up with the new moon alliance. They needed pure werewolf blood from an innocent. I don’t know what they needed it for. That’s why Tate was so adamant about having a pup.” Everyone looks around the room. We all know the Ashwood family secret but no one talked about it. How did they find out?
“Who are they and how do we fight them?” Gideon was raging, you could feel it in his aura.
“I don’t have those answers. I do know that they were using the blood of some of the pups supplied to them by the new moon alliance. They also have been looking for Alfheim and the Fae realm. They are not the normal human peace–loving hippie witches we’ve seen in the last 200 years. They have found an older power that we thought was lost to humans. One the gods themselves want stopped.” A chill runs down my spine as I listen to Ithildin.
“Well, why don’t they stop them?” I agreed with Rylie. They were gods why didn’t they do
something?
“They can’t violate the Oath of the Heavens. There was a time when the gods walked the earth mingling with humans. The supreme gods ruled over the weaker ones and for a time there was order but wars broke out and humans and nature suffered. The gods made a blood oath that they would. ascend to the heavens and leaye the world to the humans. Leaving the supernaturals otect it for them. The only loophole was the Gumiho or nine–tailed fox. Since they have to go through many thousands of years to become a full god they were left to do their duty. The witches know about the yeowoo guseul. They have been hunting down Gumihos. They have yet to get a fox marble as the Gumihos would rather die than give it up.” An Jieun’s nails dig into my forearm, it’s not out of fear

but anger. I know how she feels. The Night of Raids is still fresh in my mind even after a year.
“Luna Ithildin, how do we stop them?” I have to protect my mate and my pack.
“It’s only a matter of time before they find out about your mate. She would be the perfect target for them as her yeowoo guscul is her second heart.” An Jieun jumps up. What did she say? A second
heart?
“How? How you know?” An Jieun screams at Ithildin in pure panic.
“I know because Dalnim wants me to know. Because you are important, and we need to protect you. Now sit down child and tell them.” Ithildin’s stern words made my heart race. An Jieun sat back down and glared at Ithildin. “Go on.”
“When Mother swallow yeowoo guseul my second heart start beating. It now my yeowoo guseul. I never tell about it.” An Jieun’s hand went to her chest almost to protect it.
“This is how a demigod can exist in our world. One mortal heart and one immortal but they are tied to each other. One heart cannot survive on its own. The second heart is her yeowoo guseul.” I look at An Jieun then back at Ithildin. What is going on right now?
“Wait can we take a step back and explain everything please.” Dad stays calm as always getting all
the info.
“Do you all know how magic works or how we supernaturals can use our abilities?” Everyone just shakes their head at Ithilden. “I’ll explain. Magic and our abilities work through an offering or sacrifice. For us supernaturals, our abilities come through sacrificing something. For werewolves, it’s the choice of love. You cannot choose who your mate will be but are predestined. Those who reject their fated mate go crazy as they have violated the offering of power. Their wolf becomes insane and uncontrollable looking to somehow reconnect with the goddess.”
“OK so then how does magic work?” I asked.
“When humans use magic, they must also pay a price or give an offering. The more powerful the offering the more powerful the magic. Humans were not meant to hold that much power. It becomes like a drug to them. They crave it and it drives them insane. The witches we are used to seeing are a little goofy but good–natured they become a little silly but harmless. This coven is different, they have tasted real power and now they want more.” Luna Ithildin pinches the bridge of her nose like she has a headache.
“Wait so if we get our ability through our sacrifice and the goddess how do the witches get their power?” Amelie asks while rubbing Ithildin’s back. They seem close.-
“The gods and goddess of magic. The Blood Oath of Heaven has their hands tied. If the proper conditions are met, they have to grant them power. The gods have no way of stopping this. We now must save the gods from the very thing they were trying to prevent. We know we have an enemy. We

don’t know how many, what they look like, where they are, or what they know. They have already attacked using the new moon alliance. Many have died or suffered at their hands. They have already. been working in the shadows for years without us knowing. This war will be long and take many more lives. We must prepare ourselves.” Everyone sat up a little straighter after Luna Ithildin’s speech. Everyone except An Jieun who was looking down at her clenched fists.

My heart goes out to her because she doesn’t know what happened before!Now she has her destined mate and bam they have to figure out how to protect her.
