Soon, her phone buzzed with his message.

It was so typically him–direct yet distant.
Halsey curled her fingers nervously and sent back, [Thanks for today.]
Shaun saw her message and smiled faintly. [Can’t you say anything else?]
Halsey didn’t understand what he meant. Was he with Chelsea now? Or Warren? In the past, Warren had called her “Halsey“, but now it was “Ms. Halsey.”
[Am I bothering you? You don’t need to reply if you’re busy.]
Shaun caught the hint that she wanted to end the conversation. He chuckled softly and typed, [Going to sleep?]
Halsey replied simply, [Yeah.]
Shaun’s fingers tapped on the keyboard, answering, [But I’m not going to sleep yet.]
He couldn’t sleep.
Halsey wasn’t sure what he meant. If he were with Chelsea, he definitely wouldn’t be going to bed so early.
What were they doing together?
