Chapter 13 The One Taking Care Of You
“No, that’s not what I meant,” Eleanor explained. “I can say that I need some time to myself to calm down when I’m alone. But if someone see me with a man, I wouldn’t be
I able to explain it.”
“Being seen with someone isn’t necessarily a bad thing,” Tyler said, his gaze fixed on Eleanor. “I’m more curious about how you’re going to make our relationship public.”
The steak was brought to the table, and Tyler moved Eleanor’s plate to his side, cutting the steak into neat pieces.
Eleanor stared at him, his fingers long and elegant, the movements of cutting the steak graceful and practiced. She didn’t snap out of her daze until he pushed the plate back in front of her. “Being served like this feels nice,” said Eleanor.
Tyler picked up a wet towel and wiped his hands. Hearing her words, his movements paused for a moment, and an unreadable look flashed in his eyes. “You don’t have to treat yourself like a servant.”
“I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice,” Eleanor said, then immediately realized it sounded wrong. “I mean, I’m not saying all men are the same. Tyler, if you need anything, just tell me.”
“Marriage should be equal, Tyler said slowly. “There’s no such thing as one person giving orders to the other. Eleanor, you need to change how you think about this.”
His words hit the mark, and Eleanor lowered her eyes. Over the years, hadn’t she just been like a servant to Chris, doing everything he wanted?
“That said,” Tyler crossed his fingers and looked at her with a deep gaze, “I’m older than you, so if anyone should be taking care of anyone, it should be me taking care of you. If anyone in the Langford family makes you uncomfortable, don’t hide it. Just tell me directly. You’re my wife, and I will never let anyone make you feel wronged.”
Eleanor smiled. “Alright, I’ll remember that.”
Just then, Tyler’s phone rang before he was able to continue. His brow furrowing as an impatient expression crossed his face as he picked up the phone. “Chris, you got yourself into this mess, so deal with it,” he said, voice as cold as ice. “You’re looking for Eleanor? I don’t know where she is. Serves you right for getting blocked. Here’s the deal: take Serena to Nocturne this afternoon. I need to talk to both of you.”
After hanging up, Tyler looked at Eleanor. “Do you need help with anything?” “I’m fine, you go ahead,” Eleanor replied. “My phone’s off, but did you bring a pen? I’ll give you my other number, so you mock met if you need to.”

Eleanor took the phone and noticed the contact name was saved as “My Wife.” Her ears turned red, but she tried to act casual as she quickly entered her number. “Here

you go.”
Tyler took back the phone, his finger lightly brushing over the back of her hand. “Once I’m done handling this, Keith should be back. I’ll contact you then, and we can go get the marriage certificate.”
Eleanor looked at him, raising her eyebrow. “Do we really need to rush?”
“Do you want to see me at a matchmaking event?” Tyler asked. “Since you don’t want to go public for now, my motive for going with you is a bit selfish too. But you should be able to understand, right?”
“Oh, I get it now,” Eleanor suddenly realized. Tyler wanted to go with her to avoid Grandma Langford, who she might soon calling by the first name.
“We can’t get one hotel room if we’re not married,” Tyler said seriously. “So, I’m a bit eager to get it done. We don’t lack money, but we should still save where we can. I won‘ t do anything without your consent.”
Eleanor thought Tyler made some sense. Looking at his serious expression, she felt like he didn’t have any ulterior motives.
“We’re both adults, and we’re legally ‘roommates‘ now,” Eleanor said. “If something happens, it wouldn’t be impossible. But I need a bit of time to adjust to our relationship.” “Right.” Tyler didn’t press her any further. He didn’t want to push too hard or reveal his feelings too soon. As long as he didn’t have full confidence, maintaining the current state of their relationship seemed just fine.
Before leaving, Tyler handed her a key. “If you’re ever tired of shopping or just need a place to go, you can come to my place and rest. Don’t feel embarrassed; you’re the lady of that house. You should know where I live.”
I
Eleanor hesitated for a moment before taking the key. Since Tyler had offered, refusing would make her seem overly cautious.
“I know where it is,” Eleanor said. “You go ahead, Tyler.”
After seeing Tyler off, Eleanor’s tense nerves relaxed. Tyler’s aura was so
overwhelming that she had been a bit on edge during their time together, unable to fully relax.
Tyler was cold to everyone, a single glance from him could make anyone feel intimidated. No wonder Chris was afraid of him. But when he was with her, Eleanor could tell that Tyler had been trying to be gentler. She didn’t think Tyler liked her, but he didn’t want to be forced into a marriage, and she didn’t want his family’s fortune. Plus, she had saved his life, and all these coincidences had brought them to where they
were now.
Facing Tyler still made her a little nervous, and that made her headache. If she didn’t overcome this, how could she act the part of a devoted fan?
On the other side, Tyler was also feeling some tension. He noticed Eleanor’s unease,

but he didn’t want to rush things. The marriage was official, but feelings took time to cultivate. Now, there was a more pressing matter at hand.
Nocturne was a private club under Tyler’s name, operating on a membership system. After he arrived, Tyler gave the guard a few instructions and walked inside.
Chris felt uneasy being called by Tyler, especially when he heard that Serena would be there. He was even more nervous.
And Serena? She was scared too. She had only seen Tyler from a distance before, but even that was enough to make her feel intimidated. Besides, Kara had just scolded her mercilessly. If it hadn’t been for Linda stepping
, Serena wouldn’t know where to put
her face. But still, she was glad to see that Chris had argued with Kara, making her upset.
With that in mind, Serena felt more at ease. She held Chris’s hand. As long as Chris cared about her, she wasn’t afraid of anything.
However, thing didn’t go that smoothly as she thought. When they reached the club, Chris tried to enter with Serena, but the guard stopped them, asking to see their membership card.
Chris was immediately irritated. He stared at the guard as if he just heard something hilarious. “Don’t you know who I am?” He asked.
