Chapter 20 Where He Got Such Confidence
Serena and Chris exchanged looks, both of them having the same thought at the same time: Could the client be Tyler?
“Chris, do you think it could be Tyler? He seems pretty serious about his mysterious wife” Serena asked.
Chris furrowed his brow. “But I’ve never heard anything about Tyler having a fiancée. Looks like he’s been hiding it pretty well.”
“Tyler is scary,” Serena said, shuddering at the thought of Tyler’s intimidating presence. “The woman who marries him will have a tough time, he’s so fierce.”
Chris placed a reassuring hand on Eleanor’s shoulder. “Let’s not worry about other people’s business. As for our wedding, it’s going to be a grand celebration.”
“Thank you, Chris,” Serena gazed at Chris with affectionate eyes, her voice soft. “But I still feel uneasy. Eleanor hasn’t forgiven me yet. After posting the photos, she disappeared again.”
Chris‘ expression darkened. “She’s choosing to live that way, you don’t need to feel guilty.”
“But… I’m worried she might get pregnant before marriage, end up in a mess. That would be so embarrassing.” Serena’s face was full of concern. “By the way, I heard Logan tried to pursue Eleanor, but she rejected him, said she was already married.”
Chris‘ face immediately turned cold. A glint of icy anger flickered in his eyes as he sneered, “So she’s that fickle. I really didn’t see that coming.”
“I suspect she’s just using marriage as an excuse. But what if she really was deceived? Chris, you need to find a way to get in touch with her. Otherwise, Mrs. Donovan will be worried, and I’ll feel guilty for coming back.” Serena’s eyes welled with tears as she spoke.
Chris gently brushed his hand across Serena’s cheek. “You’re too kind, always thinking about others, which is why Eleanor takes advantage of you,” he comforted. “Don’t worry about her. She’s an adult and should take responsibility for her actions.”
Serena bit her lip, nodding slowly in agreement.
“You can head back home first, Serena. I have some things to take care of,” Chris said softly, though his quick stride made it clear he was anxious.
“Sure,” said Serena with a soft expression. But as Chris walked away, a smug, triumphant smile appeared on her face

As she expected, Chris wasted no time to find Logen. After meeting up with Logan, he immediately punched him hard in the face.

“Did you propose to Eleanor? And she said she’s married?” Chris barked, nearly shouting.
Logan’s expression turned smug as he sneered. “Why don’t you ask her yourself? Oh, I almost forgot you’ve been blocked.”
Chris reached out, his voice venomous. “Give me your phone!”
“What’s this?” Logan mocked. “You’re about to marry Sereria and still care about your
ex?”
Chris shot back coldly, “How long have you been thinking about her? Or maybe she purposely flirted with you to get my attention?”
Logan stared at Chris for a moment, then suddenly laughed. “I had a one–sided crush. I thought after you two broke up, I’d have a chance. But Chris, where do you get your confidence from? She’s a great catch–why would she waste time on you? Looks like Eleanor’s been too nice to you, and it gave you this delusion.
“Give me your phone! I want to hear her say she’s married!” Chris ignored the insults and lunged at Logan, the two struggling fiercely.
“Chris, you’re insane!” Logan spat, taking a few more punches before Chris grabbed his phone.
Chris, now breathing heavily, quickly dialed Eleanor’s number.
The phone rang once before Eleanor picked up, her voice laced with irritation, “Logan, I told you, I’m married, and we don’t have a chance.”
“Eleanor!” Chris’s voice was frantic, “You have someone new? You really can’t live
without a man, huh?”
There was a moment of silence on the other end before Logan stood up, fuming and ready to snatch his phone back. “Chris, don’t drag me into this!”
“Don’t worry, Chris, I have no feelings for you anymore. I’ll be at your wedding, but stay out of my life!” Eleanor shot back in the phone before quickly hung up.-
Chris’s eyes were filled with rage. Just as he was about to call back, Logan punched him in the face, snatching the phone away to send Eleanor a quick message.
[I’m sorry, Eleanor. I got punched, and Chris took my phone,] he typed. [I hope we can still be friends.]
Once the message was sent, Logan exhaled in–relief. He figured Eleanor was just using some guy to get over her heartbreak, and he still had a chance.
Eleanor let out a deep sigh as she read Logan’s message.
“What’s wrong?” Tyler walked out from his study, noticing Eleanor’s distressed expression. “Is someone bothering you again?”

“That nephew of yours is really out of his mind,” Eleanor scoffed.
Tyler’s eyes narrowed, a flicker of concern in his gaze, though his tone remained nonchalant. “What, is he regretting it? You-
“No, it’s not that. He thinks he’s the best man in the world and that I can’t live without him,” Eleanor sneered. “Where does he get such confidence?”
Tyler’s tense expression softened as he relaxed. “You were too good to him before, putting him first in everything. That’s probably what made him think like this,” he said. When someone’s spoiled too much, they forget what the real world is like.”
Eleanor sighed, her voice quiet. “Why do women always fall for the ‘love brain‘ trap? I thought if I kept showing him I cared, he’d come around. I believed our relationship. could go back to how it was when we were kids.” She then chuckled softly. “Vera always says I’m foolish. Do you think so too?”
“Yeah,” Tyler nodded. “But Chris’s my nephew, and you came to me first with a request, so I’m not going to say much. Unless you figure it out yourself, no one can change. your mind.”
Eleanor smiled weakly. “They say hindsight is 20/20. Tyler, if you had just warned me back then, maybe I wouldn’t have been so stubborn.”
Tyler shook his head. “Let’s not dwell on the past. In a few days, it’ll be Chris’s wedding. I’ve already got your dress ready. Want to try it on?”
“Sure,” nodded Eleanor.
Tyler had picked her an elegant red off–shoulder mermaid gown. Examining the gown, Eleanor raised her eyebrow. “Are you sure this won’t steal the spotlight?”
“You like it?” Tyler didn’t answer but ask.
“I do,” Eleanor nodded. “I love the style and the color. I just hope Chris and Serena like the gift I’m giving them.” Then, as if recalling something, she turned to Tyler and asked. “By the way, I heard someone wasn’t happy when I saved you back then. Have you Tooked into it?”
Tyler’s face darkened, his expression unreadable as he glanced at her. “It was just an accident. I owe you for what you did for me back then.”
Eleanor grinned. “We’ve been through thick and thin together. But still, you should keep an eye on Caden.”
Tyler gave her a small smile. “Stop overthinking, How’s everything going with the plans you’re making?”
