Eleanor thought for a moment. “You’re right. What you hold in your hands is what truly matters. Tyler, if you like her, why not just say it? If you keep your feelings bottled up, she’ll never know.”
Tyler’s eyes darkened, and after a moment of silence, he spoke. “I’m older than her. In her eyes, I’m almost like a father figure. She has a childhood sweetheart who is her boyfriend. She only cares about him. How could I possibly interfere with her feelings?” “Oh?” Eleanor suddenly felt a bit cheerful and linked her arm through Tyler’s. “So, the wedding gown you had custom–made wasn’t for her?”
Tyler gazed at Eleanor. “Actually, it was your idea that inspired me to get the wedding gown made. I didn’t think much beyond that.”
“Me?” Eleanor said in surprise. “Did I say something?”
“You mentioned to Chris that you wanted a simple wedding, wearing a silk satin wedding gown,” Tyler explained. “And no, I wasn’t eavesdropping.”
Eleanor remembered. She had brought it up once when she was visiting the Langford mansion, But Chris had shot down the idea immediately..
Kara didn’t like the idea of a simple wedding either. She wanted something grand and extravagant, and she had criticized Eleanor for being stingy. So the idea was put on hold.

“I think you’re absolutely right,” Tyler said. “So, I had the wedding–gown made. I only know one young woman, and I figured your figure would be a good reference. You have such a perfect build. I couldn’t find anyone better.”
Eleanor was stunned for a moment before she couldn’t help but laugh. “What a coincidence.”
“I’m not really up to date with what’s popular these days, and I don’t know what girls. like. But your taste has always been spot–on, so I figured I couldn’t go wrong by asking you,” Tyler said. “I can be careless sometimes. In the future, if you have any needs, just tell me directly.
“Between husband and wife, we need to be open and honest to avoid
misunderstandings.”
“Okay.” Eleanor nodded.

Eleanor smiled lightly. “Mom has always been concerned about reputation. With the scandal between her adopted daughter and her husband, and the daughter being married off, she would never want to make a big deal out of it.”

“Let’s go take a look.” Tyler nodded.
They returned to the Donovan mansion, walked through the iron gate, and followed the gravel path for a short while before seeing a figure standing facing the house.
“That’s your father. What’s he doing?” Tyler asked..
Eleanor chuckled. “Everyone has their limits, and Mom hates infidelity the most. I bet. she still thinks Serena is the innocent one.”
As Eleanor approached, she saw that her father looked haggard, with dirty clothes and
an overall disheveled appearance.
“Eleanor, you’re back?” Seeing Eleanor, Richard seemed to grasp at a lifeline. “Your mom won’t let me in. I’ve been out here for days, exposed to the elements, and I’ve had to fight with Milo for food. Can you talk to your mom for me?”
“Me? Why?” Eleanor said. “The facts are right there. You need to take responsibility for your actions. You’ve put Mom in a really tough spot. Is it wrong for her to punish you like this?”
“What did I do wrong?” Richard said. “Eleanor, tell your mom it’s you who’s jealous of Serena. You framed me with a false accusation. You’re the one causing all this trouble, and you should be the one to fix it.”
“Dad, I can’t help you with that. You married into the Donovan family for their money, but then you resented Mom’s strong personality and longed for your first crush.
“Only, she ended up killing herself. Serena looks like her, and you had inappropriate thoughts. How can I possibly plead for you?” said Eleanor.
Richard shook his head. “Eleanor, Serena and I really are just a normal father and daughter. You’re the key to resolving this.”
Richard frowned. “But Dad, as far as i know, over the years, you’ve only given me a Dior lipstick, and that was taken out of a set. You’ve never given Mom anything special. “But with Serena, it’s all kinds of jewelry, bags, and cosmetics. Sounds familiar, right? -Some rich guys also spend lavishly on their mistresses.”
Richard frowned. “Eleanor, what’s the point of you saying all this?”
“There’s no point, Eleanor said with a smile. “I just like to. Dad, do you know anything about that fire years ago?”
Richard’s gaze shifted. “How would I know? You were playing with fire and fell asleep; that’s how the fire started./I bought those things for Serena as a way to show my gratitude.”
“Dad, are you still not admitting it? What if she claims she was coerced by you to cover up?
ow would you handle that?” Eleanor said with a smirk. “Once it hits the media, things won’t be so simple anymore.”
Richard stared at Eleanor intently. “Your mother won’t let you get away with this.”

“I’m sorry, but I really didn’t do it,” Eleanor said. “It’s all because Serena is too attention- seeking. Don’t underestimate the power of netizens.”
Actually, Eleanor had certainly fanned the flames.
“Dad, you stay out here. I’m going in to see how Mom is doing,” Eleanor said as she
walked into the house.
The interior was in complete disarray; flower stands were knocked over, the fish tank was shattered, with water spilled all over the floor, and vases and other ornaments were smashed into pieces on the ground.
Linda sat on the sofa, trembling, with a family photo lying at her feet.
Eleanor walked over and picked up the photo. Serena was sitting between Richard and Linda, smiling happily, while Eleanor stood in the back, deliberately keeping a distance
from them.
“Mr. Farrell died trying to save you, Eleanor. How can you bully Serena like this? How heartless of you.”
“Eleanor, why does Serena have a bruise on her? She keeps crying that it has nothing to do with you. What really happened?”
“Eleanor, how could you have someone kidnap Serena? You’re lying, right?”
“Eleanor, Serena ran away from home. She blessed you? What did you say to her?”
These scenes flashed through Eleanor’s mind one by one. Serena had indeed played her tricks. But if these people had truly trusted Eleanor, they wouldn’t have been deceived by Serena time and time again.
“Mrs. Donovan, you’ve wrecked this house beyond recognition,” Eleanor said as she took the photo out of the frame. “If you don’t like it, then burn it.”
Linda looked up at Eleanor and snatched the photo back“,
