Chapter 58 The Script
“Eleanor, don’t push yourself,” Serena said kindly. “What if you mess up and embarrass yourself?”
“I have a strong learning ability. Have you forgotten that I have a photographic memory?” Eleanor replied, surprised. “But I understand. After all, you’re not good at studying.”
Serena felt insulted, but she couldn’t find a way to retort.
“Being bad at studies isn’t a big deal, but if you’re also a bad person, then you’re really beyond help,” Eleanor mocked.
“Exactly.” Angust stepped forward and put his arm around Eleanor’s shoulders. Eleanor can make a lot of money. Can you? I think you can only rely on men. Without them, you’re nothing.”

“They never got married, but neither have Eleanor and Chris. I was just following your example. What’s wrong with that?”
“Your mom would never marry him if he had to move in with the Donovan family,” Tyler suddenly said. “She always dreamed of marrying a rich man.
“She only married your dad because she was pregnant and needed someone to take care of her. She looked down on your dad, and you do too.”

He had never seen this side of Serena. In his memory, she had always been gentle and meek, never complaining, no matter how much she was bullied. Just now, Serenal

“Okay. Eleanor walked to the center of the room and stood with her back to o everyone.

“She finally can’t take it anymore and decides to break up. This is the breakup scene.”
Eleanor slowly turned around. Her face was devoid of any emotion, her gaze hollow. She spoke slowly, “We grew up together. You promised to marry me when we grew up. Did you abandon me just because she came back?
“We officially started dating when we were eighteen. If you really like her, I can step aside and give you a chance to be together. I used underhanded means to keep you by my side, right? Fine, we’re breaking up today.”
Two streams of tears ran down Eleanor’s cheeks. “We’ve been together for seven years. I’ve loved you for seven years. Even if you were a robot, you should have felt my love by now.
“You only believe what you want to believe and never bother to find out the truth. Remember this: I’m the one who’s leaving you.”
Eleanor bit her lip, her body trembling slightly, her eyes filled with disappointment.
Chris felt a bit dazed. Those words did not sound like lines from a script, but something Eleanor truly wanted to say to him.
Soon, Eleanor’s tears stopped, and the sadness and disappointment on her face. disappeared. “Angust, these lines are so long. Do they really need to be this wordy just to break up?” she asked.
“Eleanor, you did a great job just now. The timing of your tears was perfect. Although you didn’t cry loudly, sometimes silence speaks louder than words.

Noticing Chris’s odd behavior, Serena glanced at him, her eyes filled with fear. She instinctively linked her arm with Chris’s. “Chris, let’s go. We shouldn’t have come here. To the Donovan family, I’m nothing,” she said softly.
“Eleanor, when we broke up, you were really upset, weren’t you? The script and the lines were just a way for you to get my attention, right?” Chris said. “If you had cried. and complained like you just did, maybe I would have forgiven you back then.
“Are you kidding me?” Eleanor frowned. “I get it now. No wonder Angust could write such lines. You men all think the same way. A woman who breaks up has to be all teary–eyed and whiny?”
“Chris, what are you talking about?” Serena clung to Chris tightly. “She’s Tyler’s wife now. Tyler will be furious and come after you.”
Chris gently pushed Serena away and walked over to Eleanor. “Tell me. Is it all an act between you and Tyler? You never really married him, did you?”
