Chapter 60 Public Opinion
Chapter 60 Public Opinion
Serena’s performance had sparked a wave of pity and criticism online..
[Even for a short drama, quality should still be a priority. I was just looking for something to kill time, but this was just too bad.].
[She really shouldn’t be an actress. She needs to recognize her own limitations.]
[She looks so familiar. I remember she once stole someone’s boyfriend. My goodness, and she still has the nerve to play this role?]
[Oh, right. The other girl isn’t professionally trained either, but she did an amazing job. I was genuinely moved.]
[They’re actually asking for audience votes? Does this person have some powerful. connections?]
Eleanor bit her lip lightly. Angust was clearly trying to stir up public opinion online. Tyler’s brow furrowed slightly. “Are you really planning to act?”
“If the pay is good, why not?” Eleanor said. “It’s great to challenge myself in new areas. I didn’t expect Serena to become an actress, though.”
“For actors, acting is hard work, but for influencers, it’s a piece of cake,” Tyler remarked. “Who’s your co–star?”
“I have no idea,” Eleanor replied. “Tyler, don’t be so possessive. It’s just acting. I won’t get carried away.”
Tyler’s expression darkened. “I’m not trying to restrict your freedom.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Eleanor’s phone rang. It was Angust.
“Eleanor, your support rate is really high. The production team has decided to cast you. To show how seriously we’re taking this drama, I’ll be playing the male lead myself,” he announced, hanging up before Eleanor could protest.
Tyler’s face grew even gloomier. Just as he had suspected, Angust was making his
move.
“Eleanor, now you should believe that Angust is doing this on purpose,” Tyler said. Getting too close to him will cause trouble.”
“Tyler,” Eleanor explained patiently. “He’s my apprentice, and I see him as a friend.”
“You may not have feelings for him, but what about him? Tyler countered. “He already has a fiancée. I don’t want you to end up on the path you despise.”
“How do you know he has a fiane ully unlocked “Did you investigate him?”

Eleanor sighed softly and linked her arm with Tyler’s, “Then I’ll definitely stay away. Tyler, you used to be more open–minded.”

Tyler looked at Eleanor. “This is a line I won’t cross.”
“Don’t worry,” Eleanor smiled. “You’re more mature than he, and I like mature people. If Angust really is scheming, as you say, then he’s definitely not my type.”
Tyler’s expression darkened even further,
“Tyler, what’s wrong now?” Eleanor asked, sensing his discomfort..
Tyler met Eleanor’s gaze. “Let’s find a place to eat. There are some things I want to talk to you about.”
“Okay.” Eleanor nodded.
Tyler chose an upscale restaurant and ordered roasted tomato steak, foie gras fried rice, and a sushi platter.
Eleanor glanced at the dishes Tyler had chosen; they were all her favorites
Eleanor propped her chin on her hands and looked at Tyler. “I remember when we were still in school, during the summer vacation, 1 went to the Capital and visited a high–end restaurant. I bought a few dishes. When Serena found out, she scolded me for going there.
“Chris agreed with her. But she was always secretly using my expensive cosmetics. And there was this popular luxury bag for a while. She had to have one. She never thought her actions were wrong.
Oh, she’s just unreasonable. Don’t take her seriously. The more arrogant she is, the quicker she’ll cave when things get tough,” Tyler said.
“So I never really took her words to heart. It was just Chris’s attitude that hurt a bit back then. He kept belittling me and praising Serena,” Eleanor said.
“I heard that Serena once made a scene at Madam Yvonne’s High Tea, completely trashing the culture of High Tea, and Chris thought she was unique for it?” Tyler said. Eleanor chuckled. “Yeah, she always tries to act different from everyone else, thinking that’ll make people look up to her. Ignorance really is bliss for her.”
Tyler laughed. “How can someone who doesn’t even understand their own country’s culture feel superior?”
“You’re right. Serena once said she didn’t bother learning foreign languages because she thought they were beneath her. But she doesn’t know much about her own culture either. At first, she wanted to be a teacher, but she never got hired because she lacked the cultural knowledge. It would have been terrifying if she had become one,” Eleanor said.
The dishes arrived quickly. Eleanor picked up a skewer of roasted cherry tomatoes wrapped in thin slices of meat. Each bite was sweet, tender, and juicy.
“Here.” Eleanor handed the skewer to Tyler and picked up a piece of foie gras. “Tyler, you really know my taste. By the way, you said you had something to tell me. What is it?”

After a moment of silence, Eleanor looked up to see Tyler’s serious expression. He looked like he was about to march off to a heroic death..
“Tyler, what’s wrong? Being indecisive isn’t like you,” Eleanor said.
Tyler gazed at Eleanor. “If I tell you, you have to promise not to get angry.”
“Okay.” Eleanor nodded. “What is it? You didn’t cheat on me, did you?”
“No.” Tyler sat up straight. “Eleanor, I’ve liked you for a long time.“.
Eleanor was about to pick up a piece of eel when she froze, her fork suspended in mid-
ail.
“When you were born, you were so cute. When I teased you, your grandfather asked if I‘ d be willing to marry you when you grew up, and I said yes,” Tyler said.
“Wait a minute,” Eleanor interrupted. “Are you saying you liked me when I was still a baby? You were just a kid back then. Did you even know what ‘liking‘ someone meant?”
“Maybe I didn’t know what ‘liking‘ someone meant back then, but a seed was planted in my heart. It took root, grew into a tree, and only then did I realize that I liked you,” Tyler said.
“But you never told me,” Eleanor said.
Tyler clasped his hands together. “You and Chris grew up together. You saw me as an elder. How could I come between you two? Liking someone doesn’t mean you have to be together. I just wanted to see you happy.
“Later, when Chris couldn’t make you happy, I figured I had a right to reclaim what was
mine.”
“The girl you mentioned who fought with the goose? Me?” Eleanor asked.
“Yes, it was you.” Tyler nodded.
“The girl you liked all along?” Eleanor said.
“It was you, Tyler confirmed.
Eleanor covered her cheeks with both hands, too shocked for words.
“So, Eleanor, what do you think?” Tyler asked.
