Chapter 73 He’s Been Into Me For Ages
“I’m serious “Kara sat down beside Eleanor. “I know how much you care about Chne. Who would’ve thought hard turn out to be such a jerk?”
“Kara, you never seemed to like me much before, Eleanor said. “Compared to you, Mom as a mother–in–law was practically
a saint.”
“I was hard on you for your own good, Kara replied. “I didn’t want you to get too sled by all the attention. Look, we’re not big on saving reputation. If you say the word, I’ll go talk to Tyler right away‘
“Kara, if you’ve got a problem with me, just say it straight. Why all the beating around the bush? Eleanor said. “I’m not the type to double back on a breakup–and I’m definitely not circling back to him”
“Actually, there’s been a misunderstanding between you and Chris, Kara said. Tlooked into it. Chris started liking Serena because he thought she saved him that day But it was you, wasn’t its
“Oh, so he’s not entirely clueless.” Eleanor popped another lotus seed into her mouth. “Kara, have you ever heard this saying? ‘The past is dead and gone, I’m all about moving forward.”
Kara sighed. “I just think there’s no need to make your wedding with Tyler such a grand affair Imagine how awkward it’d be if someone brought up your past with Chris.”
Eleanor stared at Kara. “Kara, you’re not planning to stir things up yourself, are you?”
“Of course not,” Kara said with a laugh. “I’m just looking out for you, that’s all. But if you patch things up with Chris, we can always explain it as a little lovers‘ spat.”
Eleanor chuckled, covering her mouth with her hand. “Kara, if anyone ends up embarrassed, it sure won’t be me. You might want to think twice before you shoot yourself in the foot.”
Kara stood up. “I’ve warned you and shown you the way. Don’t come crying to me if you regret it later.” With that, Kara walked away briskly.
Eleanor propped her chin on her hand, her eyes following Kara’s retreating figure, lost in thought.
Eleanor told Tyler about it. Tyler chuckled. “So, they want to stir up some drama? Sounds amusing.” He crooked a finger, motioning for Eleanor to come closer.
“What?” Eleanor asked. As soon as she stepped closer, Tyler pulled her onto his lap without warning.
The sudden intimacy made Eleanor’s cheeks flush. “What are you doing? Let me go.” Ever since his confession, Tyler had become increasingly bold with his teasing.
“You’ll have to get used to it,” Tyler said. “If you’re this shy now, what’ll you do when things get… more intimate?*
Eleanor froze for a moment, then realized what he meant. She pinched his chest. “Where’s your composure? Your restraint? How can you say something so flirty?”
Up close, Tyler’s sharp features and effortless charm were almost too much to handle. He really was dangerously good- looking. Eleanor narrowed her eyes, then decided to turn the tables. She leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. They were soft–surprisingly pleasant.
“Are you sure you’re not hoping for something more?” Tyler’s voice turned husky. “With a move like that, you must be ready.”
Eleanor froze. She didn’t dare make another move.
“Alright, let’s get back to business,” Tyler said. “From what you told me, the only angle they can exploit is that you’re Chris‘ ex, and I’m his uncle.”
“Do they have no shame?” Eleanor said coldly. “Chris was the one who cheated. He broke his promises, not me.”
Tyler let out a cold laugh. “Twisting the truth and ignoring the facts–some people are just experts at that. Don’t worry about it. It’s just a matter of finding witnesses. Leave it to me.”

“Yeah, it is,” Logan replied.
Eleanor decided not to press further, letting the topic drop
When Logan saw Vera, the tips of his ears turned red. “This is our proposal Take alcot
Vera barely glanced at the file before tossing it onto a nearby desk She turned to Eleanor “Hey girl what firings you here
“Need to run something by you.” Eleanor walked her through the whole thing “If anything goes wrong during the wedding f Il need your help.”
“I’m so on it,” Vera said. “Honestly, those years you spent with Chris were such a waste. If they dare stir up trouble shur them down one by one.”
“I can help too,” Logan chimed in. “I’ve stepped in before, and I can do it again.”
“You’re still here?” Vera shot Logan a look. “Leave the file. I’ll review it and get back to you.”
“Eleanor, you’ve always had my back. If you’ve got a plan, just let me know, Logan said
“You?” Vera glared at Logan. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. You’re just trying to snoop on our plans. You’re one of Chris‘ loser buddies, so odds are, you’re just as awful.”
“Don’t lump me in with the rest of them, Logan retorted. “I know how to repay kindness. Eleanor helped me, and I’m not the kind of person to forget that.”
Vera scoffed. “Yeah, right. I’m not buying it.”
Logan’s face darkened. “You are being ridiculous.”
“Alright, enough already,” Eleanor interjected. “To be fair, Logan is one of the few from Chris‘ circle who didn’t kick me when I was down.”
“I don’t know what it is, Eleanor, but I just can’t stand him. Maybe it’s our signs clashing or something dumb like our MBTI types. Whatever it is, he gets on my nerves.” Vera huffed.
“That’s so ridiculous,” Logan shot back. “Fine, if Chris tries to cause trouble at Eleanor’s wedding. I’ll be the first to step in and stop him. And if I pull it off, you owe me an apology.”
“Hmph.” Vera rolled her eyes. “Do it first, then we’ll talk.”
“You’ll see,” said Logan.
After Logan left, Vera turned to Eleanor. “Does Chris still have a thing for you? Eleanor, he’s not the right guy. Don’t even think about giving up Tyler as your rock–solid support.”
“Of course not,” Eleanor replied. “Did I ever tell you? Tyler’s been into me for ages.”
