Chapter 121
“Scarlett, sweetheart.” Mom’s voice stirred me out of a deep slumber. Slowly fluttering my eyes open, I was met with my mom’s concerned expression above me. The room was pitch black, with only the light from the opened door shining in.
“What’s going on?” I sat up rubbing the sleep from my eyes. My voice sounded almost unrecognizable and although I no longer had the chills, my head still felt heavy and every muscle in my body ached.
“Aiden is here to see you.” She gave me a knowing smirk. “If you’re not feeling well, I can send him away.”
“What time is it?” I asked looking around for my phone on the nightstand, however, it wasn’t there. I must have left it in the living room after texting Lucas. I felt bad for being such a bitch to him earlier, so the first thing I did after showering was text him and apologized.
Of course Lucas being Lucas didn’t take me seriously and asked if I had drank too much Nightquill, but that’s exactly why I love him.
“Just after 7pm.” Mom replied.
“You can send him in.” I told her as I sat up straighter in bed. My mom nodded as she left, and I could hear her talking to Aiden just outside my room.
A few moments later, Aiden walked in sporting a sheepish grin and holding something in his hand. He had also changed out of his clothes from earlier and was now wearing a pair of dark blue jeans and a black hoodie. I raised a
.confused brow at him. “What’s that?”
“I brought you soup.” He smiled, taking a seat on the bed next to me and handing me a warm container with a plastic spoon on top. I scooted more towards the middle of the bed so that he wasn’t sitting so on the edge.
A blush made its way onto my already flushed cheeks. “You brought me… soup?”
“That’s what I said, isn’t it?” He laughed.
“Shut up.” I mumbled, fidgeting with the plastic spoon. “How was practice?” I was desperate to change the subject. I had developed this stupid habit of blushing around Aiden lately, and it was embarrassing because he would always
tease me about it.
“Boring.” He shrugged as he leaned back so that he was laying on my bed with his head resting in my lap. Looking down at him, his grey orbs carefully scanned my own. “Eat up, Princess.”
“I’m not hungry.” I shook my head. The thought of food, made me want to gag right now. Last night for dinner, I heated up some leftover lasagna that did not sit well with me at all. That combined with the cold, made thought of anything resembling food sound disgusting.
“You haven’t eaten anything all day.” Aiden shot me a disapproving look.
“If I eat, will you shut up?”

Chapter 121
“Maybe.”
“You’re so insufferable.” I playfully rolled my eyes as I took out the spoon from its plastic wrapping and lifted the lid off the container.
Chicken noodle soup.
“What if I didn’t like chicken noodle soup.” I challenged, taking a small bite.
“Then I’d say, take it up with Caroline because she’s the one who told me you like it.” Aiden smirked as my face fell.
“Since when are you and Caroline so buddy–buddy?” I couldn’t help asking. There was obviously no bad blood between the two of them, but I can’t say I like the two of them being so friendly. Caroline was pushy enough as it is, add Aiden into the mix and the two of them would be unstoppable.
“Since you want to be difficult all the time.” A smiled pursed his lips.
“I am not difficult!” I slapped his arm.
Okay, maybe just a little.
“Whatever helps you sleep at night, Princess.”
There are quite a few things that help me sleep at night – almost all of which involve him doing not so holy things to my body, but he doesn’t need to know that.
I managed to keep down about half of the soup he had gotten me. Placing the lid back on, I crossed my arms. “Happy
now?”
“Very.” His eyes twinkled with delight.
After a few more minutes of silence in which he continued to lay with his head on my lap, Aiden got up and I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness. “You’re leaving?”
God, I sound so needy. Who the hell am I?
“It’s getting late, Princess.” He replied, stretching his arms above his head which caused his shirt to lift up and give me a very good look at his abs. Biting my lower lip, my eyes trailed down the V–line towards his pelvic region.
Right, focus Scarlett!
“Stay….” I lifted the cover and patted the seat next to me. “At least for a little while.” He looked reluctant at first, before his eyes softened and he climbed into bed next to me.
I
I no doubt looked like absolute crap right now, but I didn’t care. Maybe it was the fact that I wasn’t feeling‘ making me act this way, but I didn’t want him to go. I liked Aiden’s company, and the way he made me fee. was the most important person to him. It was nice to be cared for, instead of always being the one doing the ring. I obviously love my friends to death, but with Aiden it was different.
