Chapter 158
“Do you think it’s safe to go in yet?” I asked Aiden, only half joking.
“I’m sure they’re not having sex in the living room, babe.” Aiden rolled his eyes, taking a handful of grocery bags and walking up the front steps.
“You don’t know that!” I called out, following suit.
By the time I made it to the front door, Aiden was already inside and there were no signs of anyone being naked.
Yet.
“Lucas!” Aiden shouted from somewhere inside. I was still standing in the entryway,
admiring the house. The interior was rustic and almost everything was made out of wood. Although the walls and ceiling were painted white, there were dark wooden beams visible. A beige granite staircase led to the upstairs, and there was a large industrial farmhouse wavy glass chandelier that hung in front of the stairs.
“You guys are finally here!” Caroline said as she descended down the stairs, wearing
different clothes from earlier and towel drying her hair.
I narrowed my eyes at her, before replying. “Yeah – someone wanted groceries!”
A sly smile spread across her face as she grabbed some of the bags out of my hand. “Were you planning on starving the entire weekend?”
“Next time, you’re getting groceries and I’m getting laid!” I hissed under my breath as I
followed her towards the kitchen.
By the time everything had been unpacked and put away, it was well past ten. Aiden and Lucas had helped in the beginning before they got bored and went to play video games, leaving just Caroline and I in the massive kitchen.
Caroline had made us a pitcher of margaritas and a small charcuterie board which we devoured. Since the boys had abandoned us for their video games, she said they could fend for themselves and I could not argue with that logic.

Chapter 158

While I went upstairs to take a shower, Caroline stayed downstairs no doubt to annoy
Aiden and Lucas.
The upstairs bathroom wasn’t any less impressive than the rest of the house. There was a
large glass shower taking up the entire back wall of the bathroom. Porcelain tiles covered
the entire bathroom floor, and a custom built black vanity sat on the right side. The oil
rubbed bronze hardware formed a nice contract to the white and gray walls.
Stripping off my clothes, I walked over to the shower and opened the glass door. Reaching
inside for the shower faucet, I adjusted the water temperature and waited for it to warm
- up. Stepping inside, I allowed the hot water to hit my skin.
I don’t know for how long I sat under the hot water, but it wasn’t until I heard knocking on
the door that I was pulled out of my daze. “Babe?” Aiden’s voice came out muffled from the
other side of the door.
“Come in!” I replied, washing the conditioner out of my hair. I heard the bathroom door
open and close, followed by the glass shower door opening. “Are you okay?” He asked softly.
I didn’t need to open my eyes to know that his eyes were glued to my naked body. “I’m
good.”
“I’ll just um…” Aiden cleared his throat. “Let you finish in here.”
Washing any remaining soap and conditioner from my face, I opened my eyes only to be
met with Aiden’s intense gaze. “Why don’t you join me?” I smirked, stepping further into
the shower and motioning for him to come in. I don’t know what possessed me to say that,
but the way Aiden was looking at me was enough to make any pure thoughts disappear.
The next morning, I woke up before Aiden did. Gently removing his hand from my waist, I rolled myself off the bed and sat on the edge trying to spot my clothes. Getting up, I pulled
my tangled hair up into a messy bun and wrapped one of the sheets around my body. As I made my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth, I grabbed a pair of clean clothes and softly closed the door so I wouldn’t wake Aiden up.
When I walked back into the bedroom, Aiden was wide awake and sprawled out on the bed with nothing but a flimsy sheet covering his lower half. “Come back to bed.” He patted the
mattress next to him.

As tempting as that was, it was already 10 am and I wouldn’t put it past Lucas to come barging in any minute now.
“Get up.” I chuckled as I bent down to grab one of his clean shirts and tossed it at him.
He extended his arm out, catching the blue material before it hit him. “That’s no fun.”
“No it’s not.” My lips twitched into a grin as I opened the bedroom door. “But if you want to have fun tonight, I suggest you get your ass up.” With that I closed the door behind me and made my way downstairs.
To my surprise, when I walked into the kitchen, Caroline was sitting at the counter nursing a cup of coffee and Lucas was flipping pancakes.
“You can cook?” I asked, scanning the kitchen for an empty cup. Caroline saw me and a knowing smirk made its way onto her face as she pointed to the cabinet above the sink.
