Chapter 105
Eleanor entered ward without bothering to explain. The commotion outside had been loud–surely everyone inside had heard it.
Linda didn’t press for details. “The lawyer will be here soon. Eleanor, if anything happens to me, everything I own will be yours. I want the will notarized. There’s no room for those with ulterior motives to take advantage.”
Eleanor didn’t object. “Alright.”
About ten minutes later, Mr. Roger came into the room. After a brief introduction, he began the legal procedures.
Once he left, Linda said, “Eleanor, once you’re done with everything going on right now, stop by the company and get a feel for things.”
“Okay,” Eleanor replied. “But Mom, since you had Dad running the company before, I’m guessing a lot of his people are still there. I’d rather not reveal who I am just yet.”
Linda nodded. “Tyler, you’ve got more experience. I’m counting on you to help Eleanor out.”
“Don’t worry, Mom,” Tyler said. “Eleanor’s more than capable. You don’t have to worry.”
Eleanor had just walked out of the hospital when her phone rang. It was Angust. “Hey, Eleanor, I stopped by your place, but you weren’t home.”
“I’m at the hospital.”
Angust’s voice immediately got tense. “What? Are you okay? I just saw the news–a serial killer got caught. But… why did I think one of the people next to him looked like you?”
“That was me,” Eleanor replied, sounding totally unfazed. “I’m the one who caught him.”
“Oh.” There was a pause–and then a sudden scream. “WHAT?!”
Eleanor pulled the phone slightly away from her ear. “Is it really that shocking?”
“Sis, are you alright? Did you get hurt anywhere?”
Before Eleanor could respond, Tyler snatched the phone from her and said coldly, “She’s fine. I’m with her, so you don’t need to worry.”
With that, he hung up.
The phone rang again almost instantly. Tyler frowned and picked up, “What now?”
A few minutes later, Tyler hung up the phone and looked at Eleanor. “Angust is flying back to the capital tomorrow and wants to take us out to dinner.
You in?”
Eleanor raised an eyebrow. “What do you think?”
Tyler replied seriously, “Of course we’re going. Otherwise, he’ll think I’m scared of him. These guys just never let up.”
Angust sent over a restaurant location. It was a private kitchen.
The place was at the foot of a mountain. Supposedly, it used to be a church. The church’s long gone, but the private kitchen that replaced it still keeps a shrine for God. With the recent boom in cultural tourism, the place has gotten a lot of attention.
Besides allowing worship, people could hang wishing tags and red ribbons on the big tree outside. There was also an archery range and a horse paddock, which draws in a lot of trendsetters looking for something different.
The private kitchen was called Crossroads, which means prosperity in all directions. The owner was a young woman who’s always promoting the place on livestreams.

Chapter 105
When Eleanor arrived, she saw the owner was livestreaming again.
“Hey, Eleanor! Over here!” Angust waved, running over with a big grin. “Check out this spot I found for you! Forget those fancy five–star hotels–this kind of vibe is way more your style, right?”
Lila followed behind him, looking annoyed, and smacked him on the head. “Seriously? You used to turn your nose up at street food and little hotels. Guess your standards finally dropped.”
Angust rubbed his head and muttered, “Go easy on me! What if you knock me stupid? Eleanor isn’t like those people who care about appearances, right?”
“Stop flattering me,” Eleanor said. “Honestly, just being around your crowd is enough to get me in trouble.”
“No way!” Angust puffed out his chest. “As long as I’m here, nobody’s gonna mess with you!”
Tyler stepped forward with a dark expression, placing himself between them. “I’m more worried you’re the source of the trouble.”
Angust shot back, annoyed, “What’s that supposed to mean? You looking down on me?”
“He has a point,” Lila chimed in from the side, “You think they’re pushovers?”
Angust glared at her. “If anything goes wrong, it’s your fault. You’re doing this on purpose.”
“Alright, that’s enough,” Eleanor cut Angust off. “Aren’t you back to marry Lila? Arguing in public is just embarrassing. And don’t drag me into your mess, I really don’t want to deal with trouble every day.”
Angust looked at Eleanor, concerned. “Eleanor, you don’t look so good. Did someone piss you off?”
“Yeah,” Eleanor said coolly. “A bunch of fools. I can handle it, but honestly, I really can’t stand the hassle.”
“Your nephew?” Angust reached to hold her hand, but Tyler batted his hand away.
“Hey! What’s your problem?” Angust snapped. “Don’t forget, we still have scenes to shoot. If you keep being so unreasonable, how are we supposed to work together?”
Tyler’s face darkened further. Before he could speak, Angust rushed to explain, “You can’t back out. Even if you don’t care about the penalty, Eleanor really loves this project. Do you want to let her down? And just so you know, your nephew’s wife isn’t giving up. She is trying to cozy up to a director through your nephew.”
Tyler said coldly, “So what?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Angust said. “Short dramas are cheap and quick to make. People these days just want something easy to watch, especially those looking to kill time. They eat that stuff up. Your nephew–in–law is trying to corner that market–killing two birds with one stone.”
Eleanor let out a cold laugh. “Her? Really?”
“Yeah, I heard she’s taking on a role that’s exactly what guys like. But Eleanor, you have your own influence. I bet your fans are way better than hers.”
“Exactly,” Lila chimed in. “You might not care about popularity games, but it’s better to have a team behind you than go it alone. I’ll invest in this project too. I’ll keep Angust in check. We can’t make it to your wedding, but we’ll see you soon.”
Eleanor smiled faintly. “Sounds good.”
Suddenly, screams rang out from outside. A boy had thrown a firecracker near a horse, startling it. The animal broke free from its ha
nd bolted.
A young girl, playing in the sand nearby, was right in its path.
Without hesitation, Eleanor tossed her purse to Tyler. Tyler frowned slightly and just said, “Be careful.”

While others froze in shock, Eleanor sprinted after the horse and, with a single leap, landed on its back. No one could quite see what she did, but the horse came to a stop just inches away from the little girl.
The girl’s parents rushed over and scooped her up.
Eleanor calmed the horse and led it back to the stables. As she turned around, she saw two people arguing nearby–the parents of the boy and the girl.
“He’s just a kid! Your daughter’s fine, isn’t she?”
Eleanor didn’t engage. She calmly called the police before heading back.
“Eleanor, you’re amazing,” Angust couldn’t help saying as soon as he saw Eleanor. “You’ve got some serious guts.”
Lila nodded in awe. “Eleanor, I seriously admire you. If I were a guy, I’d totally want to marry you. You’re ten times the person Angust is.”
As they chatted, Eleanor noticed the little boy who’d just caused trouble sneaking off to the archery range while his parents argued.
