Chapter 3
On my way home, I suddenly remembered a crucial person. I called her, arranged some things, and then went home.
Shortly after falling asleep, I heard the door open.
I walked out of the bedroom, startling Brian. I noticed several hickeys on his neck.
Brian quickly covered them with his shirt, looking guilty. “Honey, still up?”
I replied calmly, “Just got back from the office.”
Hearing this, Brian’s smile froze momentarily before he recovered. “I was just at the office looking for too. Funny how we missed each other. You made me run around for nothing–you owe me.”
With that, he tried to embrace me and act cute.
In the past, I was most vulnerable to his charms, wanting nothing more than to hold him close.
But now, I felt nothing, just calmly pushed him away.
“What’s wrong, honey?” he asked.

Brian immediately exploded.
“Ava James! What kind of nonsense are you saying?! I’m your husband, and you’re telling me to go to another woman?!”
“My parents really misjudged you when they let me marry someone with no vision like you!”
I smiled coldly. “I definitely lack vision, or I wouldn’t have married a man like you!”
Brian became furious, throwing a glass at me that cut my temple. He pointed at me and shouted, “Ava, do

you still want this marriage?! If you do, take that villa!”
“I even threw a celebration in your name to honor employees who contributed to the company–you’re really disappointing me!”
I was about to speak when Jason David, the company’s financial director, suddenly called.
“CEO James, your husband said there will be a celebration banquet tomorrow afternoon.”
Though I didn’t know exactly what Brian was planning, the company had just gone public, and I couldn’t dampen employee morale. I agreed.
After seeing my agreement, Brian left satisfied, reminding me not to disappoint him and to definitely attend.
Tomorrow afternoon, I arrived at the location Brian had sent me.
Then I noticed-
It was less than 100 meters from the villa Morgan had tried to give me.
