I nodded and walked off with him.
Gideon called after me with a broken voice, but I didn’t look back.
At dinner, Cassian asked about the situation. I told him the story while eating.
He was shocked, forgetting his food. He took a swig of beer and looked at me with pity.
“Trust me. You will meet someone better,” he said seriously.
His earnestness amused me.
I didn’t expect Gideon, so full of pride, to keep haunting me.
The next day, he was at the studio entrance again, a bouquet of roses in hand.
He gazed at me and spoke softly. “I’m not giving up. I’ll be here till you change your mind.”
“Don’t you get it? The contract is over, and we are done,” I snapped.

I paused, then smiled.
