Chapter 9
When he opened his eyes again, his assistant stood by the bed, his expression grave.
He handed over a phone, his tone no longer respectful, only cold. “You were unconscious for two days. During that time, I investigated some things. Take a look.”
Before taking the phone, Ethan had already guessed what he might find.
But when confronted with the truth, his pupils contracted violently, his body trembling uncontrollably.
The phone showed security footage from the racing club, with Vivian deliberately running me over.
She deliberately drove the car towards me after confirming my position.
The footage was so clear that Ethan could see Vivian’s dark smile as she accelerated toward me, and the three words she mouthed: “Go to hell.”
The next video showed Vivian in the hospital room, deliberately approaching me and saying those horrible things, then faking
1 Tall to frame me–I had never touched her.
The assistant’s voice choked with emotion, tinged with blame.
“We all saw how Miss Sophia treated you these past years. Such a kind person, how could she ever harm Vivian? Only Vivian, taking advantage of your indulgence, became arrogant and cruel, repeatedly humiliating and hurting Sophia, who endured it all silently for your sake.”
“I heard that before she died, you cut her tendons and took her cornea for Vivian!”
“She was already badly injured by Vivian’s hit–and–run, how could you do that to her, leaving her without even a chance to escape when the explosion happened! How desperate must she have felt? Now she’s dead. Are you satisfied?”
“And there’s more.”
The assistant scattered a pile of photos showing Vivian partying, drinking, and intimately entangled with different men.
“Your precious innocent niece has long been a filthy bitch. Yet you did those despicable things to her. You’re uncle and niece–it’s immoral incest! I thought you were honorable, but you both disgust me!”
“Miss Sophia gave you five years of her love, only to be treated like this. She deserved better than a blind scum like you.”

Then he took a resignation letter from his pocket and threw it in Ethan’s face. “I won’t work with a disgusting pervert like you anymore. You’re on your own now.”
After leaving the resignation letter, the assistant departed.
Ethan clutched the bedsheets, his blood boiling.
He never dreamed Vivian, who acted sweet and pure with him, had long seen through his feelings, even saying such vile things to me behind his back.
Even if he’d once had inappropriate thoughts about Vivian, no matter how despicable, he would never actually act on them with his niece.
The facts were all laid out before him.
He covered his face, painfully and regretfully awakening to the truth.
Vivian was no longer the pure, kind girl in his memories–or perhaps she had never been, simply good at pretending.
Yet based on her few words, he had taken my cornea and cut my tendons.
Ethan clutched his chest, as devastating pain and anger nearly destroyed his reason.
At this moment, the hospital door opened.
Vivian ran in wearing revealing clothes, expertly snuggling into Ethan’s arms.
“Uncle, you scared me to death.”
She stroked his waist, but Ethan grabbed her wrist and threw her aside.
Vivian fell to the floor. Before she could speak, she looked up to meet Ethan’s ice–cold gaze.
Her heart skipped a beat. She quickly got up to take Ethan’s hand, “Uncle, I know you’re upset about Sophia’s death, but she did so many bad things that even heaven punished her. Now that she’s dead, no one will come between me and you anymore.”
“Are you happy about that?” he asked.
She didn’t notice his strange tone, scornfully curling her lip. “She bullied me so much before, it’s too easy a death for her. But thinking about how she must have struggled in agony before dying, with her tendons cut by you, makes me feel better. Since she’s dead, I’ll magnanimously forgive her past mistakes.”
“You forgive her? But what did she do wrong?”

In an instant, Ethan’s hand closed around her throat.
His bulging veins and large hands nearly choked the life from her.
“Who do you think you are to forgive her? After all you did to Sophia, how dare you say such things?” “I indulged you because of my brother, but since you dared to touch Sophia, you’ll taste the consequences!”
