Aurora’s POV
“You signed a contract behind my back?”
“Aurora, who do you think you are? Just because I showed you a little affection for a few days, you actually think you’re my Lama now?”
“You’re nothing but a dog my grandfather bought. When you and your mother were wandering as rogues, it was my grandfather who took you in. What right do you have to question me?”
“If you dare to piss me off, I’ll have your mother’s treatment stopped immediately!”
I felt as if I had been struck by lightning. I couldn’t utter a single word.
After that, Xavier got even worse.
Once he was bored with the she–wolves in the pack, he started targeting my friends.
He kept pushing my limits, crossing boundaries again and again.
On one side was my mother, who needed money for treatment. On the other, a marriage that was already rotten to the core.
I was torn between the two, pulled so hard I nearly fell apart.
One day, in a daze, I accidentally fell down the stairs. The pack doctor came rushing over, and instead of warning me, he said,
“Congratulations, Luna. You’re pregnant.”
Alpha Jareth almost pleaded with me, “Aurora, please keep the baby. It might be the turning point for your marriage.”
“If Xavier doesn’t change even after the baby is born, I won’t force you to stay any longer.”
With so many complicated emotions, I eventually agreed.
I had no idea that, despite all my efforts, I couldn’t hold onto any of them–my mother, my child, my marriage, my love.
I slowly wiped the tears from the corners of my eyes and looked up at the gray, hazy sky.
Perhaps the only thing that brought a shred of comfort was that both Xavier and I were finally free.
While I was lost in thought, Xavier called.

“Aurora, did you report me to my grandfather again? You ruined my time alone with Amara!”
“I’m warning you, if you do that again, I’ll cut off your card and every last cent I give you!”
If it had been before, I would’ve begged him, explained, apologized–done anything to earn his forgiveness.
But now, I simply said, coldly and without emotion, “Do whatever you want.”
Xavier was clearly caught off guard by my indifference.
But he quickly let out a mocking laugh.
“I heard you gave birth. Having a child really does give you some backbone, huh?”
“But don’t forget–I’m still the Alpha of the Darkfire Pack and heir to the Darkfire Group. As long as you stay in the pack, I’ll always have ways to make your life hell.”
I closed my eyes.
I had already seen what Xavier was capable of.
The first time I caught him cheating, I naively went to Alpha Jareth, hoping he’d stand up for me. But all I got in return was Xavier’s insane retaliation.
He used my mother as leverage and made me to kneel in the snow, slapping myself over and over again.
That night, I had to listen to him and his lover enjoying themselves while I lay outside.
My face swollen and frostbitten, I ended up in the hospital. The last bit of our mate bond dissolved into the falling snow.
That was also the night I lost my wolf.
She stopped answering me as I was left feeling weak and abandoned by our mate.
After that, no matter how cruel or humiliating Xavier became, I pretended not to see.
I silently endured all his abuse, desperately clinging to my identity as Luna.
But now, my mother was gone. I had lost the baby. My wolf had vanished too.
This sham of a marriage–it was time to end it for good.
I coldly hung up the phone, stood up, and called a friend at the funeral home to schedule the
cremation.

But when I returned to the hospital room, I found Xavier standing at the door.
He frowned at me, then sneered.
“What? Not going to keep playing the pitiful act?”
“Running around right after giving birth–seems like you’re perfectly fine. No need to stay in the
hospital anymore.”
“I’m bringing Amara to live at the pack house. She’s young and spoiled, doesn’t know how to do housework. So go check yourself out and come back to be our maid.”
As he spoke, Xavier leaned in close, a malicious grin twisting his lips.
“Your pain–it’s the best aphrodisiac for me.”
He stared at me, hungry for my suffering, but I only looked back at him with a numb, dead
expression.
Bored with my lack of reaction, he turned to a nurse nearby.
“Where’s my child? Boy or girl? Bring them here–I want to see.”
The nurse froze, eyes wide in panic. She glanced at me, unsure of what to say.
I let out a sigh and answered, “Your grandfather took the baby.”
Xavier opened his mouth to speak again, but just then, his phone rang. The moment he answered, his face turned pale.
Then, without warning, he slapped me across the face.
