Chapter 67
Mr. Tyler shook his head. “It’s not an issue, but… Xyla, the girl who had that argument with Miss Brown last night, is the daughter of an old friend of mine. I’ve known her since she was a child. Xyla’s character can be a little unpredictable, but she’s not unreasonable.
“Her fiance, that guy named Lane, was pretty close to another girl a couple of years ago.
They were about to break up with Xyla, but then, for some reason, that girl became acquainted with Franklin.
After that, the Lane boy and Xyla didn’t have much to do with each other anymore…”
Mr. Tyler continued, his words implying that Julia had interfered with the relationship between Xyla and her fiancé, but after Julia had climbed the social ladder, she had backed off.
However, Mr. Tyler’s frustration wasn’t with that old affair but with last night’s debacle.
He sighed. “Originally, my old friend and Xyla were supposed to attend today’s exhibition, but after last night’s incident, thanks to Franklin’s appearance, it’s all over the internet.
The netizens have been blasting Xyla, and it upset her so much she started crying.
“Plus, when those old foxes found out about Miss Brown’s relationship with Franklin, they rushed to form connections with the Brown family.
To avoid being the target of public opinion today, my old friend and Xyla decided not to come…”
Johnny and Adele listened in silence, unsure of how to respond.
When Adele glanced back toward Julia’s side, she noticed that the number of people surrounding them had increased.
After finishing the conversation with Mr. Tyler, Adele turned her attention back to the exhibits, discussing the designs and concepts with Simon and the others.
They were all quite excited to be exposed to so many cutting–edge technologies at once.
It seemed like a long time had passed before Johnny suddenly approached Adele, pointing in a particular direction.
Franklin.
He had arrived too.
His tech company had a significant influence in the country, and he was also well–versed in technology, so Adele had expected him to come.
After all, if Julia was here, how could he not be?
And now, there he was, standing next to Julia.
People surrounded him and Julia, as though they were a legitimate couple.
Adele glanced at them before quickly looking away.
Then she saw Levi.
He had come as well.
However, Levi was in conversation with someone and didn’t notice her.
Johnny asked, “Does he know you’re here?”
Adele shook her head. “He probably doesn’t.”
Although she had seen Franklin a few times recently, they never talked about their situation.
Even when they did speak, it was always about their daughter, Isabella.
He Faked Death for Mistress,I Faked It for Revenge
So there was no way Franklin would know she was at the exhibition too.
Johnny looked displeased and said, “Are you really not going to greet hira?”
Adele and Franklin weren’t divorced yet, so if she revealed her identity as Mrs. Collins in public, he would surely want to see Franklin and fulla v
reactions.
Adele understood his implication.
She shook her head. “No need.”
First of all, it wasn’t necessary.
Second, if she pushed Franklin too hard, he might just publicly expose the incident where she had once
tricked him.
Even if she hadn’t done it, she couldn’t
prove her innocence, and in the end, it would only be her who would be embarrassed.
There were many entrepreneurs present, and if handled poorly, it could even affect her uncle’s business.
She didn’t want to act impulsively.
Adele withdrew her gaze, and Simon and the others called her over again to help clarify some concepts. She turned and walked away, no longer concerned with Franklin and his group.
As she turned, Levi noticed her.
At that moment, Julia went over to Logan, not staying with Franklin.
Levi walked up to Franklin, nudging his side with his elbow, and nodded towards Adele’s direction. “Over there – your wife is here too.”
Franklin looked in the direction Levi pointed and, indeed, saw Adele.
She was holding a tablet, standing sideways, explaining the technological concepts behind an exhibit to Simon and the others.
Adele and her group were very focused on the discussion, unaware that Franklin was watching them.
Levi paused, then spoke again, “Who are those people your wife is with? Is she explaining the core technology of the exhibit? Your wife is so impressive.”
Franklin kept his eyes on Adele, not looking away, and didn’t reply.,
At that moment, Adele felt something and looked up.
Their eyes met from across the room, their gazes crossing in the air.
Adele paused for a moment.
