Harry and Levi probably hoped that she would have some ambiguous relationship with someone else, so that Franklin could be free of her.
Why would they care if she had any ambiguity with other men and risk making Franklin unhappy?
After getting into her car, Adele drove away.
By the time she arrived at the old house, it was completely dark outside. Inside, besides the servants, only Grandma Collins was there. When she learned that Adele had arrived, she came out personally to greet her.
When she saw that Adele was alone, her smile faltered for a moment. “Where’s Isabella?”
It wasn’t unusual for Franklin not to return with her, so Grandma Collins didn’t ask further.
But usually, Isabella always came back with her, so she wondered where she was. Ever since Adele’s ankle healed, after having a meal at the villa with Isabella, she hadn’t heard from her again.
As for what Franklin and Isabella had been doing over the weekend, or who they were with, Adele had no idea. She didn’t even care to ask.
Now, hearing Grandma Collins’s question, Adele smiled and said, “They should be here soon.”
Although she said that, in reality, whether they would come tonight was still uncertain. After all, wasn’t it the same last time when they went to the hot spring resort?
Grandma Collins, thinking that Adele must know about Franklin and his daughter’s plans, didn’t press her for more details. She assumed everything was fine.
Adele spent quite a while talking with Grandma Collins, and by the time it was almost 7:30, there was still no sign of Franklin or Isabella.
Grandma Collins furrowed her brows. “What time is it? Why aren’t they here yet?”
As she spoke, she seemed to recall that Franklin had also been absent the last time they went to the hot spring resort. Her face darkened, and she turned to Adele. “Mag, could you call him and remind him?”
Adele sighed and picked up her phone to call Franklin.
The call was picked up quickly. Franklin seemed to have guessed the reason for the call and spoke first. “We’ll be there in 20 minutes.”
Just as Adele was about to reply, Isabella’s voice came through the phone. “Goodbye, Aunty Julie.”
Adele lowered her gaze. They really were with Julia.
Before she could process it, she heard Julia’s gentle voice on the other end. “Goodbye, Isabella.”
Then, Julia spoke softly to Franklin, “I’ll go upstairs first.”
Franklin responded with a simple, “Mm.”
At that moment, Adele heard Franklin’s indifferent tone. “Is there anything else?”
Adele snapped back to reality and said, “No, that’s all.”
Before she could hang up, Franklin beat her to it.
“Is something wrong? Are they not coming back?” Grandma Collins said angrily, “Frank is really-”
“No,” Adele replied with a faint smile. “There’s just traffic at this hour. They’ll be here in 20 minutes.”

The butler, standing nearby, smiled and reminded, “Miss Isabella is still in the car…”
Grandma Collins paused, then snorted, “Fine, fine. Since it’s for my little great granddaughter’s sake, I’ll let him off this time!”
Adele smiled at her but didn’t say anything.
Twenty minutes later, Franklin and his daughter finally arrived.
Grandma Collins didn’t look at Franklin but warmly waved to Isabella, smiling, “Isabella, you’re back!”
“Grandma!” Isabella ran to Grandma Collins, who hugged her and affectionately rubbed her head before letting her go to Adele. “Mom.”
“Mm.” Adele embraced Isabella and, as she did, noticed the faint scent of Julia’s perfume on her clothes.
She didn’t mention it but gently pushed Isabella away.
Franklin sat next to Grandma Collins and handed her a box. “A gift to apologize.”
Inside the box was a rare snow tea that Grandma Collins loved. It was something hard to find and extremely expensive.
Grandma Collins knew it was a gesture of apology for Franklin missing the trip to the hot spring resort last time.
She snorted, saying, “At least you know how to bring a gift for Grandma. But what about Mag? Did you prepare an apology gift for her?”
Franklin smiled but didn’t say anything. He just glanced at Adele.
However, it was only a simple look, with no other emotions in it.
