Chapter 29

Apr 17, 2025

Damien stormed out of the underground torture chamber, his blood boiling with fury. His boots pounded against the stone floor as he ascended the stairs, each step fueling his rage. Lucien. He had known it, suspected it from the moment the first rogue attack happened, but hearing it confirmed from the rogue’s own mouth made his wolf roar with anger.

Lucien had dared to send his rogues onto Damien’s land. He had dared to kill Damien’s people. And worst of all? His children—his own blood—were under the same roof as that murderer.

Beside him, Xavier kept pace, his expression just as dark. The Beta’s hands were curled into fists, his knuckles white with suppressed rage. “I knew it,” Xavier muttered, his voice rough. “That bastard. He’s been testing us for months, and now he’s not even hiding it anymore.”

Damien didn’t respond at first. His breathing was sharp, controlled—barely. His wolf clawed at the surface, demanding blood, demanding justice. But there was no justice here—only vengeance.

As soon as they reached the entrance of the packhouse, Damien turned to Xavier. “Call the warriors,” he commanded, his voice like steel. “I want every single one of them armed and ready within the hour.”

Xavier’s eyes widened slightly, though he quickly schooled his features. “We’re going to war?”

Damien’s lips curled into something dark, something almost inhuman. “No one comes into my pack, kills my people, and walks away unpunished,” he said, his voice low and lethal. “Lucien thinks he can strike at me and stay hidden in the shadows. He’s wrong.”

Xavier nodded sharply. “I’ll sound the alarm. We’ll be ready before the hour is up.”

“Good,” Damien said, already pulling out his phone. “Lucien wanted a fight? He’s about to get one.”

Xavier ran off toward the training grounds, already barking orders.

Now, it was time for the next step.

Damien dialed a number he hadn’t used in a long time.

The line rang twice before a voice answered. “Alpha Damien,” came a smooth, cautious voice. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

Damien’s fingers flexed against the phone. “Alpha Greyson,” he greeted, his voice steady but filled with an unspoken warning. “I assume you’ve heard about the rogue attacks.”

A pause. Then, “I have.”

“Good,” Damien said coldly. “Then you’ll be interested to know the man behind them. It’s Lucien.”

Silence. Then, Greyson exhaled slowly. “Lucien?”

“Yes,” Damien confirmed. “And I’m not waiting for him to strike again. I’m taking the fight to him.”

Greyson was quiet for a moment. Then he chuckled. “So, war is coming.”

Damien’s jaw tightened. “War is here.”

Back at Silvermoon Pack…

Lucien sat in his office, sipping a glass of whiskey as he overlooked the dimly lit forest beyond his window. The room was silent, the only sound coming from the faint crackling of the fireplace.

Then, his phone rang.

He glanced at the screen before answering. “What is it?” he asked, his tone laced with irritation.

“Alpha,” the voice on the other end said, slightly breathless. “We have a problem.”

Lucien exhaled slowly, swirling the whiskey in his glass. “You called me in the middle of the night for a problem? Be more specific.”

There was hesitation. Then—

“It’s Damien. He’s declared war.”

Lucien’s hand stilled. His golden eyes flickered with something dark, something amused.

Then, he smiled.

“So,” he murmured, leaning back in his chair. “It begins.”
