Missing Pieces–1·
Thea’s POV
I missed my husband.
Sebastian had only been gone for a few hours, and I was already reaching for my phone to
call him.
Even though I’d been the one insisting he go to work today, I regretted it now.
I’d already finished all the housework that could possibly be done, which wasn’t much since Mary had everything under control. I was bored out of my fucking mind because there was literally nothing to do. Phoenix was sleeping most of the time, and Mary was busy, so there was no one to talk to.
I tried baking, but failed miserably. Just like with the pancakes earlier, I struggled to remember recipes, and the markings on the measuring cups were a challenge to see
clearly.
Sighing, I grabbed the baby monitor and headed out to the backyard, straight to the gazebo that had caught my eye the moment I saw it. I didn’t remember having a gazebo before, so it must have been built during those four years I’d lost.
This amnesia was both a blessing and a curse. I considered it a blessing because Sebastian had changed so much, becoming the man I’d always hoped he would be. I really couldn’t complain about anything. We were finally the family I’d always dreamed of.
But it was also a curse because so many things were different now. So many things were new. Honestly, I didn’t think that was a bad thing. What I hated were the side effects of my current condition, like being unable to read simple words and numbers properly. It made me feel stupid as fuck.
“Luna, you have a visitor.” Mary’s voice startled me as I’d been lost in my thoughts.
“Who is it?” I looked at her, squinting against the bright sunlight.
“Morgan.”
I thought about the name for a moment but couldn’t place it. Obviously, if someone was

visiting, it meant they knew me, right?
“Show her in.”
She gave a slight bow and left. Minutes later, she returned with a woman.
“I thought your name was Iris,” I expressed my confusion.
Mary left us, and Iris sat down beside me. I turned to fully face her, recognizing her from the hospital.
“Morgan is a nickname. My grandmother used to call me that, and it stuck,” she explained.
I nodded but didn’t say anything more. An awkward silence stretched between us, suffocating and telling. It seemed like neither of us knew where to begin the
conversation.
This whole thing was weird. I mean, here was a woman who probably knew everything about me, but I knew nothing about her.
“So how are you? Is everything okay?” she finally broke the silence after several minutes.
I thought for a moment before answering. During that time, Mary returned with a pitcher of lemonade and two glasses. She left after serving us.
Taking a sip of the delicious drink, I replied, “I’m good, I really can’t complain about
anything.”
“So Sebastian is treating you well, right?” she probed further.
The question made me uncomfortable.
“Why would you ask that?”
I knew, of course, that my relationship with Sebastian had always been strained. She was
obviously my friend, so she definitely knew this fact, but Sebastian had told me our relationship had changed. Was that a lie?
“Nothing. I just wanted to make sure everything is good.” The expression in her eyes told
me there was more to it.

The way she tried to rearrange her features and control her emotions indicated something else. Just like with Sebastian, I could feel that something wasn’t quite right. She, like my husband, was hiding something.
“Should I be worried about something?”
Maybe I could get her to tell me something. Anything about what Sebastian might be
hiding from me. It would help, rather than constantly guessing and being suspicious.
“Not at all,” she took a deep breath, “I’m just happy to see you so happy and at peace. I know being with Sebastian would change your life. I can see how happy you are with him.”
“Was I sad before? Sebastian told me that when he started seeing Aurora and I started
seeing Kane, we agreed to an open relationship.”
She stared at me. Her eyes were searching for something. There was an intense debate in her gaze, a struggle I didn’t understand.
“Yes. I wasn’t around then. That was when Aurora first came back, but I know your story
with her. I could see how much it hurt you to learn Sebastian was pushing you away for her, even though you refused to admit it. You locked that pain away and tried to forget it.”
