Thea’s POV
I was fucking exhausted. loved Leo, but I couldn’t wait for his party to be over so I could rest. Planning everything these past few days had kept my mind busy, but it hadn’t helped much with the jumbled mess of emotions I was trying to sort through.
My brain was still in chaos about what to do with Sebastian. Every time I looked at him, I couldn’t help but wonder if I should give him another chance or just move on.
I shook myself free from these thoughts and texted Margaret to let her know she could bring Aurora. Obviously, Roman would be coming, and Sebastian’s parents and Margaret would be there too. They’d attended every single one of Leo’s birthdays. It would be rude not to invite them because of issues between us. Besides, Leo wanted them here.
She immediately texted back saying they’d be here in about thirty minutes. I knew it might be childish, but I wanted to test Sebastian. I wanted to see if there were any lingering feelings between him and Aurora. His answer had given me a bit of comfort, at least.
“Mom!” Leo’s shout of my name startled me.
“What is it?” I asked, turning to see him grinning from ear to ear,
Seeing him this happy made all my worries and concerns vanish. Phoenix was still with Sebastian and Damien. Her and Leo, they were my world. Even if I decided not to get back with Sebastian, having them in my life would be enough.
“Is it time yet?” His excitement was obvious, making me smile,
“Not yet,” I answered. “But your guests will start arriving in a few minutes. I’ll call you then so you can help me welcome them.”
He nodded eagerly, happiness radiating from every pore of his body. “Okay, call me when it’s time.”
I nodded, and he dashed upstairs, muttering something about making sure he looked handsome and charming. Watching him, I felt joy and happiness spread through me.
Chapter 280
“Thea!”
I turned to find my mom and dad entering the house. Since the day I’d gone to pick up Phoenix, I’d decided to call them that. It felt right, and they were thrilled to hear me call them that. Maximus had told me he missed hearing me call him dad.
“Hi, Mom, hi, Dad,” I greeted, hugging them.
“We came early because we didn’t want to miss anything,” Mom said excitedly. “This is our first time celebrating our grandson’s birthday, and we want to be here for everything.”
“We brought presents, and we hope it’s not too much,” Dad added. “We’ve missed so many birthdays, and we wanted to make it up to him.”
My eyes widened when two people trailing behind him walked in with a pile of gifts. I stared at them in shock. I knew Sebastian and I had bought him plenty of gifts, but this was on another level. My mouth was still hanging open when they asked where to put the
presents.
“Outside,” Sebastian said beside me. “There’s a designated area for the gifts, you can’t miss
it.”
I whipped around to stare at Sebastian. I hadn’t even noticed when he’d arrived. But honestly, there was a lot going on around us and lots of noise. I hadn’t heard his footsteps.
“Seraphina, Maximus,” he greeted my parents respectfully.
“Hello, Sebastian,” Mom greeted back, but Dad just gave him a male nod.
Phoenix lay on Sebastian’s shoulder, completely asleep, drool running down the corner of her mouth. What surprised me was that despite the noise around us, she was sleeping soundly. She rarely slept in noisy environments. She was the type who needed absolute silence to fall asleep.
“I see she’s asleep,” Mom began. “How about us girls take Phoenix upstairs for her nap, and you boys chat?”
