My anger nearly burned through me. This woman had framed me, sent me to prison again, nearly made me completely collapse, and now she dared to contact me? 

“I’m calling the police right now! I’m going to tell them you contacted me!‘ I shouted, 

“Wait, Aurora. The voice remained calm. “Don’t you want to know why I’m contacting you?” 

“I don’t care!‘ I scoffed disdainfully, about to hang up. 

“Even if this relates to you reconnecting with Jaxon and Wyatt?” 

My finger hovered over the hang–up button. 

“Well well, I see you just came out of his house.” Her voice was leisurely. “Doesn’t look like it went very well.” 

A chill crept up my spine. She was watching me? I immediately straightened up, nervously scanning the surrounding streets for any suspicious vehicles or figures, but found nothing. The empty street had only a few parked cars and swaying tree branches. 

“Do you know why he rejected you?” the voice asked, completely unhurried, as if we were having a friendly chat. 

“Because I’m a terrible person,” I answered bitterly.

My stomach sank. Of course I knew. This would be a grand event for the entire werewolf society. Thea would be formally introduced as the heir to the Kincaid Pack. Sterling Pack had also received an invitation, including me. 

“I know,” I admitted. 

“Then you know what this means to Thea. She’ll stand in the spotlight, receiving everyone’s praise and respect.” The voice paused, letting the words sink in. “And you’ll be there, as a pitiful creature she saved, watching her enjoy the glory you’ll never reach.” 

Every word stung my heart like a needle. 

Why do you think she saved you?” the voice continued. “Do you really think it was because of justice? Or was it because she wanted to show everyone how noble she is, how tolerant? She wanted everyone to see that she not only won Sebastian but also magnanimously saved her ‘enemy.“” 

My hands began to tremble. These words struck a terrible chord in my heart.

“Think about that picture, Auta, She’ll stand in the center of the dance floor, wearing a gorgeous dress, and everyone will praise her virtue. And you, you’ll stand in the corner, grateful that she gave you freedom, grateful that she didn’t let you rot in prison.” 

“Stop it,” I said quietly, but 1 cold feel anger burning in my chest. 

She already has everything, Aurora. Sebastian’s love, Wyatt’s worship, the entire Pack’s respect, and now the heir position of the Kincaid Pack. And you? You have nothing.” 

1 gritted my teeth, trying not to let these words affect me. 

“But I can change all of that.” 

“What do you mean?” I found myself asking. 

“I can give you a chance to regain everything you’ve lost. Let you become a hero, not a victim.” 

“I’m listening,” I said, even though I knew I shouldn’t. 

“At the ball, I need you to help me with a small favor. I need you to take Leo to a specific place.” 

My blood instantly cooled. “What?” 

“Just temporarily. I won’t hurt him- 

“You want to kidnap Leo?” My voice was full of shock and fear. 

Regarding Leo, my feelings were complicated. To be honest, I’d never really liked this child before. Every time I tried to get close to Sebastian, Leo always showed his dislike for me, always protecting his mother. But… he was just a child. And I knew what he meant to Thea. Leo was everything to her, her weakness, the reason for her existence. 

“Kidnapping is such an ugly word,” the voice corrected, its tone even rising with lightness. “I just need to ‘borrow him for a while.” 

“To do what?” 

“To teach Thea a lesson.” 

My heart rate accelerated. “You want to hurt her again.” 

“I want to make her pay. Just like she made me pay.” 

I thought of the scene where Thea insisted I was innocent. She saved me, and now someone wanted me to help hurt her? 

“I won’t participate in hurting a child,” I said firmly. 

“I won’t hurt Leo.” The voice immediately became soothing. “He’s just a tool to use against his mother. Once it’s over, he’ll safely 

return home.” 

“What about Thea? What do you want to do to her?” 

“That’s not for you to worry about.” 

But I was worried. I didn’t know why, but the thought of Thea possibly being hurt made me uneasy. Maybe it was because she saved me, maybe it was because… I didn’t know. 

“Why should I help you?” I asked.

I closed my eyes, trying to block out these tempting images. 

“And,” the voice added, “if something unfortunate happened to Thea in the process… Sebastian would be single again. By then, whether it’s Sebastian or Jaxon, you could choose whichever one you want, couldn’t you?” 

These words seeped into my bloodstream like poison. I could see this future–Sebastian looking at me gratefully, Jazon realizing my worth, Wyatt adoringly calling me mom. 

“You could have whichever one you want, Aurora. Sebastian or Jaxon, even both. You’ll be the hero, they’ll all need you.” 

“I…” I began to say. 

My wolf growled softly deep in my heart. She wanted these things. She wanted our mate, our pup, the status we deserved. 

But another voice rang in my heart–the voice of reason, the voice of conscience. 

This was wrong. This whole plan was wrong. Leo was innocent, and Thea… Thea saved me. 

“Aurora, this is your chance to start over. This is your chance to regain everything.” 

A chance to start over. 

“Aurora? Have you decided?” the voice prompted. 

I took a deep breath, feeling a strange calm wash over me as I made my choice. 

“Yes,” I said quietly. “I’ve made up my mind.”
