Chase’s heart sank. It had been years since he’d seen Shawn look at someone with such raw, hungry anticipation.
He shifted his gaze to Zoe on the screen. She was just lounging against a tree, looking bored and plain. ‘What could possibly make Shawn so fixated on her?‘ he wondered.
Chase scratched his head, trying to make sense of it all. But the more he thought about it, the more confused he got. Finally, he decided to just let it go. As he turned to follow the orders, he caught a glimpse of Shawn.
There he was, standing up from his seat with a smooth, almost effortless grace, his military uniform looking sharp as ever. Shawn casually bit off his white glove, and as he pulled it off, his long, slender fingers were revealed.
Shawn’s face broke into a half–smile, somewhere between a smirk and a genuine grin. He was staring intently at Zoe and said, his voice firm and commanding, “No I’ll handle this evaluation myself this time.”
“Mr. Ludwig?” Chase’s eyes widened in disbelief. Throwing extra challenges at these students was one thing, but Shawn taking charge personally was unheard of.
“Get moving.” Shawn commanded in a cold, sharp tone,
Chase didn’t need to be told twice. He quickly turned and rushed off to do as he was told,
On the other side, the students, blissfully unaware of the impending crisis, were already on edge after the poisoned fish fiasco.
These sheltered teenagers from wealthy families, who had never known hardship and had little knowledge of food, were now extremely nervous and hesitant. None of them dared to seek out food anymore.
Eunice was itching to prove herself, but after her ill–fated attempt to catch fish that nearly ended in disaster, no one was willing to trust her again. As a result, everyone sat around, hungry and listless, unsure of what to do next.
Zoe, however, sat with her eyes closed, seemingly indifferent to the chaos around her.
Eunice and the others scrambled to find something to eat. They needed to conserve their energy for the upcoming challenge, which would be grueling. Food was essential if they wanted to make it through.
In her idle moments, Eunice cast a sideways glance at Zoe, her heart brimming with disdain. “Zoe initially gained some attention at the start, but I’ll show everyone that I’m the best in the group. As for Zoe? She’s just a country bumpkin as ever!
Suddenly, a piercing growl cut through the air. The students jolted to attention.
Wh–What was that?”
“Are there wild animals here?
“This is crazy! 1 get the survival part, but wild animals? Really? Why?”
“Animals could kill us.
“I’m so scared
“I want my mom. I want to go home.”
The boys and girls were complaining non–stop and shaking, their legs turning to jelly.
“Everyone, stay calm Eunice said, trying to keep her voice steady. From the sound, I don’t think it’s a wolf
She was scared too, beat with her brothers and all her friends around, she knew she’d be okay. ‘And Zoe–if she gets left behind, that would be just 100 good. Eunice condi’t help but think viciously
And then, it of nowhere, a pack of cheetahs lunged from the bushes. They were huge, almost man–sized, with jaws that looked like they could rip
abeck clean off
Panic erupted Nobody had time to worry about Zoe. People were screaming, running in all directions
“Chertatis How the hell did chertabs get here?
“We’re dead! They’re going to tear us apart?

In the chaos, everyone scattered. Eunice’s brothers, Herbert and Jacob, grabbed her and dragged her away, protecting her.
