With a bitter laugh, she finally spoke up. But the words that came out of her mouth left the Evans family stunned. “I was with Shawn just now. What’s the problem?”
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone in the room was stunned. They were all wondering if she had really just been with Shawn, the legendary
warrior of Clusia.
Eunice had been waiting for her mom to scold Zoe, but hearing this shocking news, she was left speechless.
She thought, ‘Zoe really was with Shawn this whole time? No way. That can’t be true:
Even Clara, who was usually rude and unreasonable, was shocked.
Even Sean, the calm one, along with Herbert and Jacob, couldn’t hide their surprise. They stared at Zoe, wide–eyed, and Sean asked, “You mean Shawn from the Ludwig family?”
“Yeah, that’s right. Shawn Ludwig,” Zoe replied.
Clara, who had snapped back to reality, snorted in disbelief. Clearly, she didn’t think Zoe could pull this off.
Eunice immediately raised her voice and shouted, “Impossible! No way! Zoe, you’re lying. There’s no way Shawn would spend that much time with you or even care about you. This can’t be happening.”
At that, Zoe sneered and retorted, “Why is it impossible? You’re not Shawn, are you?”
“You can’t get close to him. You don’t have what it takes. So just because you can’t, you think no one else can? That’s just dumb,” Zoe said.
She laughed again and added, “Honestly, I have a knack for picking out the right guys. I can spot an angelic bitch from miles away. That’s why you’ll never get close to Shawn. Makes sense, doesn’t it?”
Eunice’s face went from pale to flushed as she thought, “What does she mean by spotting an angelic bitch? The real fake here is you, Zoe. You’re lying!”
“Mom! Sean! You have to stop Zoe from spreading lies. If people find out she’s ruining Shawn’s reputation, it’ll cause huge trouble for the family,” she yelled.
Eunice immediately started acting all innocent, looking like she was super worried about the family. Her act totally convinced the rest of the Evans family to side with her.
Scared, Clara yelled at Zoe, “You clueless little brat! Keep talking like that, and you’ll drag the whole family down!”
Sean opened his mouth, and just like Clara, he thought Zoe was lying. But all he said was, “Zoe, lying is wrong.”
As the tension rose, Eunice quickly shifted her approach, pretended to be the concerned sister, and tried to give Zoe some advice.
“Zoe, you need to learn to stand on your own. Stop trying to climb the ladder through men. There’s not a rich dude in Jelonsburg who’s that dumb. You should stop with the lies,” she said.
“See? Eunice is just trying to help you. You’re even worse than your sister,” Clara added.
Looking at their ugly faces, Zoe sneered. But in the next moment, she couldn’t be bothered to argue any longer. Instead, she pulled out her phone and dialed Shawn’s number right in front of them.
The contact name “Future Husband” flashed on the screen, and the call was quickly picked up.
Seeing Zoe act all mysterious, Eunice leaned in to get a look. When she saw the name “Future Husband on the screen, she immediately pretended to be surprised and exclaimed, “Zoe, you really are dating someone! Who’s this random guy?”
On the other end of the line, Shawn was resting in the car. He raised his eyebrows when he saw Zoe’s call. He hadn’t expected her to call so soon, but he still answered
The moment Zoe spoke into the phone, her soft voice sent a pleasant tingling sensation through Shawn’s body, and instead of being bothered, he arqually found it comforting.
Zoe said. “My dear, are you home yet? I just got home and already miss you. My family’s been asking where I went. Especially my sister. She’s asking if I went on a date with some random guy
Her words instantly silenced the living room at the Evans residence. Eunice was so angry that she nearly choked on her frustration

Just as Eunice and Clara were about to unleash another round of insults, Shawn’s deep voice came through the phone. “Hmm? What’s going on? Did Eunice bully you again? Is what she did at school not enough?”
His voice, laced with clear disapproval, was instantly recognizable to everyone in the room–after all, it was the voice of the legendary warrior of Clusia.
Even Sean, who was calm and composed, froze, his face filled with shock. “It… it really is Shawn!” he gasped.
