Chapter 57
“If you don’t believe me, you can search all the items she brought into the gymnasium. The truth will come out soon enough,” Zoe added. Her words echoed throughout the room, leaving no room for doubt.
Soon, the gymnasium security searched Eunice thoroughly. Just as Zoe had predicted, they found a packet of hydride in Eunice’s bag.
The evidence was undeniable, and Eunice had no way to explain it away. The entire crowd was left in stunned silence.
Everyone had suspected Zoe of drugging Zack, never considering that the true culprit could be the seemingly noble Jelonsburg princess, Eunice.
In the crowd, the most shocked were likely Herbert and Jacob, who widened their eyes in disbelief at the same moment.
“Goodness gracious, Ms. Evans actually poisoned someone,” one of them muttered in disbelief.
“I can’t even believe it. I never thought the real poisoner would be Zoe’s own sister, Eunice. She’s the joke of Highcrest University. We always thought she was an angel. I never thought she-
“No, it wasn’t me.” Eunice’s face turned pale in an instant under the weight of the crowd’s condemnation. She was left with no way to defend herself.
She couldn’t believe that her carefully cultivated perfect image, which she had worked on for years, had been shattered in an instant by Zoe.
Eunice even saw her two brothers casting disappointed glances her way. She felt like she was about to break down.
Tears streaming down her face, she tried to make a final plea. “No, I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to help Zoe win this competition.
“Zoe and Mr. Shelton had promised that the loser would die. I just wanted to make sure Zoe didn’t lose, or she would have been killed.”
Eunice’s tone was sincere, and almost everyone in the room, including Herbert and Jacob, believed her.
“So Eunice did all this just to protect Zoe. What a pity that Zoe not only didn’t appreciate it but also publicly pushed her into a corner,” the crowd murmured.
The situation quickly shifted, Herbert and Jacob even
led the
way in demanding an apology from Zoc.
Eunice approached Zoe. “Zoe, I was wrong. Please, listen to everyone and forgive me this once,” she pleaded.
Before Eunice could even touch Zoe’s shoulder, something completely unexpected happened.
With a loud bang, a slap resounded through the room, so sharp it seemed to shatter the air. Zoe had slapped Eunice.
Zoe looked down at Eunice coldly, her tone arrogant. “I will never forgive you. Today, you must apologize.”
Zoe’s attitude left everyone in the room stunned.
“What are you doing, Zoe?” Jacob was the first to step forward, unable to contain his anger
The five brothers had always doted on Eunice, holding her in the palm of their hands and protecting her from any grievance.
Now, Zoe had dared to strike Eunice, which was like stepping on Jacob’s last nerve.
With a quick sidestep, Zoe avoided Jacob’s lunge. Then, she grabbed Eunice in front of her and gently kneed the back of Eunice’s knee, causing her to fall to the ground in front of Zoc.
Hey, are you kidding me? Is this the Evans family’s pampered princess? She’s arrogant and self–righteous. What if one day she kills someone right in front of you and sweetly says it’s for me!
“Would you still blame everything on me? How utterly foolish,” Zoe sneered, lifting her foot and stepping on Eunice’s bent legs.
Eunice didn’t have the strength to even attempt to get up and resist.
Til teach you sothe manners since your brothers won’t, Zoe declared coldly.
With a crack, she slapped Eunice’s left check “First, take responsibility for your own actions instead of shifting the blame onto others.”
The next slap landed on Eunice’s right cherk Second, stop using tears and whining to gain sympathy. Often, tears and acting cute won’t solve arrything. If you leave here and go to any comer of the world without your Evans family heiress status, your tears will be worthless.”
