Chapter 15 Drama Queen
Benedict’s face was like a thundercloud, his anger simmering beneath the surface as he watched Francesca walk away. The memory of her toying with him in the parking lot lingered, and now she had the nerve to act like they were strangers.
And then there was Raymond. The way he treated her wasn’t casual. Benedict’s mind churned as he tried to piece what their relationship was.
Benedict wasn’t just a mafia boss; he was a man used to control. And Raymond was the Denvers family’s golden heir. Both powerful. Both untouchable. People always compared them, loved putting them side by side as rivals.
So, naturally, their arrival stole the show. Conversations shifted, eyes followed, and everyone scrambled for a moment of their attention.
Suzanna didn’t waste the opportunity either. She clung to Benedict’s arm, smiling gracefully as the partygoers gushed over them. She wore her composure like armor, soaking up every bit of the attention.
Francesca, on the other hand, had already slipped away. Crowds weren’t her thing. She left Raymond to play host while she wandered into the garden, craving the quiet.
As Benedict entertained a throng of well–wishers, Suzanna spotted Francesca alone by the fountain. Her eyes narrowed. This was her chance.
She couldn’t fathom how Francesca had managed to connect with someone like Raymond. It wasn’t enough that she had threatened Suzanna in Neprana, now she had humiliated her at one of the city’s most prominent parties.
Clenching her fists, Suzanna stormed after Francesca, her anger bubbling to the surface.
By the time she reached the fountain, Francesca was standing there quietly, seemingly lost in admiration of the view. Suzanna’s voice dripped with venom as she spat, “You must’ve worked hard to snare Mr. Denvers.”
Francesca turned slowly, her expression calm, her movements unhurried. She had expected this. Suzanna’s face twisted, her mask of elegance cracking as pure hatred shone through.
Francesca raised an eyebrow, impressed by the dramatic switch in Suzanna’s demeanor that she almost chuckled. She felt this woman indeed deserved to win an award for her acting, it was that convincing.
“You bitch,” Suzanna spat, stepping closer, her voice trembling with rage. “Why aren’t you dead? You shouldn’t be here, around Benedict, around any of us. Let me make this clear, you’re just trash he threw away. Stay gone.”
Francesca’s expression turned glacial, colder than a winter night. Suzanna’s fans would probably faint if they saw the real face of their darling movie queen; a scheming, venomous woman who didn’t know when to quit.
Still, Francesca thought with a hint of amusement, Suzanna and Benedict deserved each ot feather flock together.
Birds of a
She let a smug, cutting smile curl her lips. “Let me clarify something for you. I’m the one who filed for the divorce. Benedict didn’t leave me, I dumped him. And unlike you, I don’t go dumpster diving for things. others have already thrown out.”

expression. “You’re only acting tough because you’re hanging onto Mr. Denvers. Without him, you’re nothing. Just another desperate woman trying to claw her way into the upper class.”
Her words stung with venom, but Francesca didn’t flinch. Suzanna, on the other hand, was practically trembling with jealousy. She scanned Francesca from head to toe. Francesca had only become more radiant, a fact that clearly grated on Suzanna.
“Let’s be real,” Suzanna continued, stepping closer. “Men like Mr. Denvers don’t keep women like you for long. You’re just a shiny toy he’ll toss aside the moment you embarrass him. Enjoy the ride while it lasts.”
Francesca watched her, unimpressed. It was clear Suzanna was building up to something.
Sure enough, Suzanna took one deliberate step back, a sly smile playing on her lips, and threw herself into the pond with a dramatic splash.
“Help! Help me!” she shrieked, flailing wildly in the water like she had no idea how to swim.
Francesca stayed rooted to her spot, arms crossed, watching the scene unfold with a bored expression. The performance was so over the top it was almost funny.
Being so close to the main venue, the noise quickly drew a crowd. People murmured and pointed as Suzanna continued her melodrama, splashing and crying out for help.
Then, someone broke through the onlookers and dove into the water without hesitation. Francesca’s eyes narrowed. Of course, it had to be Benedict.
