Of course, Francesca eventually held herself back and didn’t throw the punch.
She was here for the divorce, and that was the only thing that mattered. No need to cause more drama before that.
“Alright, Suzanna, apologize to Francesca,” Benedict said, his tone turning serious.
“I know I was wrong, Francesca. Please forgive me,” Suzanna said quietly.
Francesca just gave a cold laugh. She wasn’t buying Suzanna’s act.
If she hadn’t caught her today, Suzanna would’ve really gone through with that kidney swap, just to use it for her own gain.
Only someone as naive as Benedict would fall for Suzanna’s harmless act. But now, none of that mattered. As long as Benedict signed the divorce papers, Suzanna and he could do whatever they wanted.
“That’s enough, Benedict,” Francesca said. “Since Suzanna is suddenly all better, we should focus on us.” She slammed the divorce papers down in front of him.
“Here’s the divorce agreement. Sign it, and we’re done. Don’t worry, I’m not taking a dime from you. No need to stress about me trying to get something out of you.”
Benedict looked at the papers, his expression darkening even more. “Francesca, are you really sure about this?”
Since Suzanna came into the picture, Benedict has been acting like he preferred her, which made Francesca jealous. But deep down, he didn’t actually want divorce.
First, his grandma liked her. Second, he knew how much Francesca had done for him all these years, how she had always supported him.
That was why he had still transferred money to her, even with everyone saying she was just using him.
“I’m sure,” Francesca replied, her tone steady. “I’m done being treated like a servant in your family. And honestly, doesn’t the whole Landon family, except your grandma, want me gone?”
They had always looked down on her. Ellen had even tried to set Benedict up with other women, but he would turn it down every time.
He felt that Francesca hadn’t done anything wrong. There was no reason to kick her out.
He was always caught up with work and rarely around the Landon family, so he never knew how badly Francesca was being treated at home.
Francesca never said anything to him, and Ellen definitely wouldn’t tell him either. Turned out, she already given up on their marriage long before today.
Benedict stayed silent for a second before saying, “Alright, I’ll sign it.”
This was probably for the best for both of them.

One thing for sure, it wouldn’t be Francesca, even though she wasn’t the gold–digger everyone thought she
was.
Benedict grabbed his pen and signed the papers. His hand shook just a little, showing he wasn’t as calm as he was trying to seem.
Francesca watched him sign, but her expression didn’t change. She had een this coming. She carefully picked up the papers, took a quick glance, and slipped them into her bag.
“Well, it’s done. I’ll go now. I’m going to say goodbye to Grandma,” Francesca said, heading for the door.
“Wait!” Benedict called after her.
Francesca stopped but didn’t turn around. “What is it?”
Benedict paused for a moment, then said, “Don’t tell Grandma about the divorce just yet. Her surgery went well, but she’s still weak, and she can’t handle it.”
“Don’t worry about it,” she said with a cold laugh. “I care about her more than you do.”
Benedict watched her leave and felt a strange sense of sadness. He couldn’t shake the feeling of loss as she walked away.
Suzanna, however, felt a flicker of triumph as she watched Francesca leave. She had finally gotten rid of the woman she found so annoying. Now, it was just going to be her and Benedict.
But her smugness faded when she looked up at Benedict. His expression had turned dark, and the intensity of it sent a chill through her.
“Suzanna, you really disappoint me,” Benedict said, his voice cold. Without another word, he turned and walked out of the ward.
“Benedict, let me explain!” Suzanna, no longer bothering with any pretense, quickly ran after him barefoot.
