She closed the door gently behind them, leaving Wendy alone with Stanley.
Stanley stood in front of Wendy, his tall, imposing figure casting a shadow over her. “I haven’t done anything with Luna. I never touched her.”
Wendy shivered slightly, looking up at him with wide, clear eyes. “Do you think I’m going to believe that?”
Luna had a boyfriend, but that didn’t prove she hadn’t been involved with Stanley. If Stanley hadn’t been with Luna, why would he have invested so many resources in her?
Stanley stood with the light behind him, his lips pressed tightly together. “If I touched her, I’d admit it. But I didn’t. I’m not the type of man who’s too cowardly to own up to something like that.”
