As Angela and Bella shared a tender moment, the phone suddenly ang in the living room.
Angela quickly let go of Bella. “Bella, the phone’s ringing. I have to take this.”
Bella’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Do you think it’s Daddy or Mommy calling?”
“Let’s find out.”
Angela picked up the call, and almost immediately, Wendy’s voice came through. “Mrs. Angela, it’s me.”

“Wendy! Have you and Stanley gotten your marriage certificate yet? If you have, you should start calling me Angela!” Angela said happily.
There was a pause.
“We haven’t gotten the certificate yet,” Wendy replied.
“What?” Angela was stunned. “Why haven’t you two gone through with it? Didn’t you say you were getting married today?”
Wendy’s voice dropped. “Stanley didn’t show up.”
Angela’s voice tightened with anger. “That boy… Is he out of his mind? Why wouldn’t he go?”
“I tried calling him, but I couldn’t get through. Has he come home?”
“No, I haven’t seen him.”
“That’s really strange. I can’t reach him, either. Do you think something happened to him?”
Angela’s tone grew serious and alert. “He’s been set on marrying you. He wouldn’t just bail without a good reason. Maybe something did happen. Don’t panic. I’ll have someone check into it right away and get back to you.”
“Okay,” Wendy said quietly.
Without hesitation, Angela called for the butler. “Go find out what Stanley is doing and where he is right now!”
The butler nodded. “Right away.”
Five minutes later, he returned, rushing in. “I have bad news! Mr. Hawk has had an accident!”
Angela jumped to her feet. “What happened?”
Bella’s small voice trembled. “What’s wrong with Daddy?”
The butler answered, “I’ve just confirmed that he’s been admitted to the hospital.”
What?!
Meanwhile, Wendy and Halsey remained in the private dining room. Halsey asked, “Did Aunt Angela send someone to check?”
Wendy nodded. “Yes. I believe she’ll call back soon.”
No sooner had she finished speaking than her phone rang–it was Angela.
Wendy immediately answered. “Hi, have you found out where Stanley is?”
“Something happened to Stanley–he’s in the hospital!”

Wendy sprang up. Why would Stanley be in the hospital?
Halsey stood up too, concern flashing in her eyes. “How did he end up in the hospital? What happened?”
“Mrs. Angela, don’t worry. I’m heading to the hospital right now to see what’s going on.” Wendy ended the call and looked at Halsey. “I’m sorry, but let’s reschedule. Stanley’s in the hospital, and I have to get there.”
Halsey grabbed her bag immediately. “I’m coming with you.”
“Okay.”
Wendy and Halsey rushed to the hospital as fast as they could. In the corridor, Wendy approached a nurse. “Excuse me, can you tell me which room Stanley Hawk is in?”
“Mr. Hawk? He’s in the VIP ward, Ward 405,” the nurse replied.
“Thank you.”
Wendy dashed toward Ward 405, Halsey close behind. “Wendy, try not to worry. I think he’ll be okay.”
Wendy reached the door of Ward 405 and pushed it open. “Stanley..”
The next moment, Wendy’s voice caught in her throat.
