Cyril nodded grimly. “Yes, that whole family seems dodgy. They’re covered in tattoos. I’m guessing they’re mixed up in the underworld.”
Halsey’s spirits sank to the lowest point. She was sure this wasn’t just a simple accident. Someone was deliberately setting a trap to drag Cyril and Lincoln Enterprise through the mud.
Trouble at such a critical stage of their cooperation with a multinational company, as well as encountering thugs–it couldn’t be a coincidence. It had to be a setup.
“I think someone’s pulling the strings,” Halsey said, voicing what she had been suspecting.
Cyril nodded. “I’m thinking the same thing. Someone’s making a serious move against our family.”
Patricia froze. “Who could it be? We’re a known family in the Capital. Who could be so bold as to attack us? I don’t think any ordinary person could pull off such a carefully planned scheme.”
She was right. There were only a handful of people in the Capital capable of something like this.
Halsey already had one person in mind. “I need to step out for a moment.”
She left the hospital room and pulled out her phone, and dialed a number. After a gentle ring, the call was answered with calm, deliberate ease.
A familiar voice echoed through the line. “Didn’t expect you to call so soon.”
Halsey clenched her phone tightly.

She knew it was he behind all of this.
“Are you the one pulling the strings? Why would you do something like this?” she demanded angrily.
Gilbert laughed. “It’s complicated. I can’t explain it all right now. Why don’t you come see me?”
Halsey narrowed her eyes. “Where do you want to meet?”
“The Littuane Hotel. Come to the Presidential Suite.”
