“You don’t have the right to say no,” Gilbert said firmly.
At first, he gently stroked her lips, their softness and scent intoxicating him. But he couldn’t hold back–his touch grew heavier, pressing harder.
Desire flared in his eyes. Without warning, he pushed Halsey, sending her sprawling onto the large bed.
Gilbert leaned over her. “Halsey, be mine tonight. I want you so badly.”
He moved in to kiss her.
But she turned her head, dodging him.
He tried again, but whenever he got close, Halsey would swiftly move in the opposite direction.
Frustrated, Gilbert grabbed her face. “Why won’t you just be with me? Is it because you still haven’t forgotten Dwight?”
Though Dwight had disappeared three years ago, he still lingered between Gilbert and Halsey like a shadow.
Halsey looked him in the eyes. “So what if I am? He’s better than you, anyway.”
Her reply struck a nerve deep in Gilbert’s pride. His eyes reddened with frustration. “Better than me? How do you know? Let’s test out that theory now.”
He kissed down her neck.
Halsey shoved him away. “No need to try. I’m sure he’s loads better than you in bed.”
