Halsey leaned against the wall, her hands clawing at the surface. “Who exactly do you mean?”
Shaun kissed her carlobe softly. “What?”
“Do you mean if I want Dwight…or Shaun?”
Instead of answering, Shaun asked back, “Who do you want it to be?”
A sly smile tugged at Halsey’s lips. Suddenly, she turned her head and pressed a kiss onto his lips.
Shaun stiffened for a moment, caught off guard by her sudden boldness. After a brief pause, he cupped her face and kissed her deeply.
They poured all their energy into that kiss–Halsey clinging tightly to him, Shaun losing himself in her sweetness.
She twisted back around, her fingers sliding down along his sculpted abs. Shaun buried his face in her neck and took a breath.
“It’s you,” Halsey said softly.
Shaun kissed her long hair.
Tears shimmered in Halsey’s eyes. “Honestly, I didn’t even need to see that mole. I always knew it was you.”
From the moment they first met, she had known it was him. She just hadn’t dared to be certain.
But now, there was no doubt. He was definitely him.
The only question was what she should call him now–Dwight, or Shaun?
Shaun wrapped his arms around her waist before lifting her to sit on the bathroom counter. His eyes were dark with desire as he held her face, leaning in for another kiss.
Halsey reached up and pulled off his mask.
His disfigured face was suddenly exposed under the bright light. Shaun stiffened and straightened up, ready to leave.
But Halsey grabbed his arm. “What happened to your face?”
Why did it look like that now? He used to be so handsome, but now his face was almost unrecognizable.
Shaun glanced at her, a small smirk playing on his lips. “I know I’m ugly. Are you scared?”
Tears slipped down Halsey’s cheeks. Without a word, she kissed him again. Though silent, the kiss held all her pain and tenderness.
Shaun’s breathing grew heavier. He reached to unbutton her clothes and asked in a husky voice, “Do you want me? I want you.” Halsey answered with her actions, her hands going back to his belt tugging again.
Shaun caught her hand. “Here. Press this, then pull it open.“/
With a click, the belt came undone.
They began undressing each other, years of longing boiling over. After three years apart, they were desperate to merge into one.
But then, a ringtone interrupted them. Shaun’s phone was ringing again. Halsey glanced at the caller ID—William.
Her mind snapped back to reality. She hadn’t forgotten the reason she was here tonight Lincoln Enterprise still needed saving.
She nudged him. “It’s Mr. Payne.”
Shaun’s voice was hoarse. “I’ll answer later.”

As he spoke, his eyes burned as he stared at her. Halsey bit her lip, her hands restless.
Shaun struggled to steady his breathing.
On the other end, William asked, “Are you and Ms. Mallin ready? I’ve booked the restaurant. When should we leave?”
