Looking at Halsey’s sweet smile and those bright, shining eyes, Shaun felt that he would gladly believe her even if she was lying to him.
He leaned in and kissed her.
Halsey wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him back with just as much warmth.
By the time the kiss ended, her small, heart–shaped face was flushed red. She looked up at him and said, “I need to get back to my studio. I’ve got a batch of new designs to finish today.”
Shaun knew she was now a well–known fashion designer. He gently stroked her cheek. “I don’t want to drop you off. Just work on them here, in my office.”
He wanted to stay close to her.
It really felt like they were back in the honeymoon phase, and honestly, she didn’t mind how clingy he was being.
She hesitated. “But…”
Shaun didn’t give her the chance to say no. He stepped out of the car and walked around to the passenger side. Then, he opened the door and bent down to lift her straight into his arms.
Carrying her bridal–style, he walked straight into the building.
Halsey’s lashes fluttered as she squirmed in surprise. “What are you doing? This is your company. So many people will see us! Put me down!”
Shaun just said, “Not a chance.”
Still holding her tightly, Shaun walked through the front doors. As expected, the moment they entered, everyone turned to stare
“Mr. Lane!” someone called out, standing up in shock.
The employees all looked stunned–and thrilled. They couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Their CEO was carrying a woman into the company like it was no big deal.
“Oh my god! Who is that girl?! Mr. Lane just carried her in! I could die!”
“He’s not even trying to keep it low–key. He’s totally showing her off to the whole world!”
“This is so cute. I ship them so hard!”
Halsey felt like the center of attention. Embarrassed, she quickly hid her face in Shaun’s chest and clung tightly to his neck.
She seriously didn’t want to show her face.
“Mr. Lane!”
More and more people turned to look.
“Mrs. Lane!” someone shouted.
Others started calling her that too–Mrs. Lane.
Halsey smiled shyly. The one thing that was hardest to resist in this world is feeling like you were someone’s favorite. Her heart
felt full.
Shaun carried her into his office, where Martin had already set up a table full of delicious food. Shaun gently sat Halsey down in a chair and handed her a set of utensils.
“Go ahead, eat.”

Halsey looked surprised. “You asked someone to prepare all this?”
Shaun nodded. “Yeah, but maybe you’re not hungry? After all, you just had lunch with Gilbert.”
Halsey muttered under her breath, “This petty man…”
She then said aloud, “I swear I didn’t eat a single bite with Gilbert!
Shaun’s lips curved into a smirk. “Alright, I believe you.”
He picked up a shrimp and held it up to her lips. “Here–open up.”
Halsey blinked. “Why are you feeding me? I can eat by myself.”
Shaun replied, “I want to feed you. Gilbert tried to feed you at that fancy restaurant, didn’t he?”
Halsey groaned internally. Seriously?
Still, she opened her mouth and took the shrimp. “Mmm. It’s really good.”
Shaun smiled again.
Then Halsey picked up a shrimp and held it out to him. “Here–your turn. Open up!”
Shaun raised his eyebrows.
Halsey added, “I didn’t feed Gilbert. I’m only feeding you.”
That line made Shaun feel ridiculously pleased. His sharp eyebrows lifted, and he opened his mouth to eat the shrimp.
“Gilbert’s nothing,” Halsey said. “He doesn’t even come close to you. To me, you’re the best.”
Shaun looked at her with softened eyes. He knew she was just trying to cheer him up, and it worked. He loved it when she did that. He loved it when he was the only one in her eyes and heart.
