Shaun gently patted Bella’s head. “Thanks for the compliment, Bella.”
Wendy smiled. “Let’s all sit down.”
“Okay!”
Wendy and Bella sat on one side of the table, while Halsey and Shaun sat on the other. The waiter began serving the food. “How are things going with Stanley?” Halsey asked.
Wendy didn’t want Halsey to worry. She knew Halsey and Shaun had just reunited, and their relationship was still sweet and tender.
“Don’t worry. Things with Stanley will be sorted out soon,” she replied.
Halsey nodded. “That’s good to hear.”
Shaun added, “Ms. Crone, if Mr. Hawk ever needs help with anything, feel free to let me know.”
Wendy looked at Shaun. The young man who once had nothing had now become a rising star in the business world. He and Halsey a spoiled heiress raised with care–made a perfect match. A love between equals had always been the ideal kind, no exceptions.
She was genuinely happy for them. Her eyes settled on Shaun’s face. “Was your face injured by acid?”
Shaun glanced at Halsey.
Halsey smiled. “I told Wendy about it. She’s Dr. Ceylan, the wonder doctor. I wanted to ask her to help treat your face.”
Wendy said, “Mr. Lane, if you don’t mind, would you take off your mask so I can examine the injury?”
Halsey looked at Shaun with encouragement and hope. “I don’t want you to wear that mask for the rest of your life. Wendy can help you.”
Shaun gave a slight smile to Wendy. “My face is pretty bad. I’m afraid I’ll scare you all–especially Bella.”
Bella giggled sweetly. “Only people with ugly hearts are really ugly, I’m not scared at all!”
Wendy said, “I’m a doctor. It’d take a lot more than that to scare me.”
Both Wendy and Bella were warm, kind people. Shaun could feel it and it put him at ease. He slowly reached up and took off the
mask.
His face was finally revealed.
Wendy’s expression shifted. “That’s some serious injury.”
Bella’s eyes turned red. “It must’ve hurt a lot.”
Shaun smiled faintly. “It’s all in the past.”
Halsey asked, “Wendy, do you think there’s a chance Shaun’s face could recover?”
If Wendy said it was serious, then it really was. Shaun had spent the past three years visiting the top doctors around the world, but none of them had given him any hope.
Wendy said, “I can help fix your face.”
Shaun froze. “Really?”
Halsey lit up. “You can help Shaun?”

Wendy nodded. “Yes. I can perform reconstructive surgery for Mr. Lane, but I’ll need a rare medicinal herb.”
Halsey asked, “What kind of herb?”
Wendy replied, “Snowpeak Bloom. It’s extremely rare–it only blooms once every 50 years. You’ll need to find one.”
Now that there was finally hope, Shaun nodded. “Alright. That won’t be a problem.”
Halsey beamed. “We’ll do whatever it takes to get a Snowpeak Bloon.”
Wendy nodded. “Okay. That’s good.‘
The four of them had dinner together. Before long, it was time to say goodbye.
Halsey hugged Bella. “How about coming to stay with me tonight?”
