Chapter 115
Inside the room, a figure in a white dress, hair hanging loose, skin stretched tight over bones, and a sickly yellow complexion, shuffled toward Ethan.
“You–you’re Luna,” Ethan stammered in shock. “You died, didn’t you? Did your daughter bring you back? Your eyeball is falling out. Stay away from met
Ethan tried to run,
but his feet wouldn’t budge. “Get away from me!”
Eleanor’s voice echoed, “Dad, wasn’t she your first love? Haven’t you always claimed you loved her? Or was that just you pretending to be some devoted guy?”
Her words snapped Ethan back to his senses. “Where are you? Are you the one playing these tricks? What do you want from me?”
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his neck, and he collapsed limply to the floor.
Eleanor walked over, quickly drew a vial of blood from his arm, and said, “I went out of my way to recreate how your beloved looked when she died, and now you’re scared? Is this what you call love?”
She grabbed a rope, tied him up, and patted him down, finding a small bottle and a knife.
The bottle was filled with sulfuric acid.
“Are you really my father?” Eleanor whispered. “Wouldn’t it hurt like hell if you poured this on me?”
The door swung open and Detective Miller walked in. “Mrs. Langford, thank you for your help. We’ll take it from here.”
Eleanor nodded. “Alright, I’ll leave the rest to you.”
Detective Miller added, “Mrs. Langford, like I told your husband before, you should be careful. Someone like you is exactly the kind of person that organization is after.”
Eleanor let out a laugh. “You’re giving me way too much credit. I didn’t do anything special. Anyway, now that he’s been caught, he can sign the divorce papers.”
Tyler glanced at Eleanor, looking like he wanted to say something, but held back.
Eleanor caught it. “What were you about to say?”
Tyler shook his head. “It’s nothing. I think it’s better if your mom tells you herself.”
The real makeup artist had been waiting for quite a while. When Eleanor walked in, she greeted her, “Hi, I’m your makeup artist. Since you’ll be wearing an exquisitely intricate dress and we need to do your hair as well, it’s going to take a bit longer than usual.”
“Understood.”
About two hours later, Eleanor was finally dressed in her silk satin wedding gown. As for the extravagant tiara Tyler had custom–made for her out of solid gold, rubies, and turquoise, Eleanor flat–out refused to wear it.
“Your husband must love you so much–this thing’s got to be worth at least a hundred grand.”
Eleanor laughed. “It’s heavy and honestly, not the safest thing to wear. Besides, if we ever break up, I could probably sell it for a small fortune.” She picked up another hair accessory. “I’ll wear this instead–my mom gave it to me.”
Linda’s gift was a diamond–encrusted swan hairpin, symbolizing eternal love and refinement.
“You look absolutely stunning, ma’am.”
Eleanor glanced at her reflection in the mirror and felt satisfied as well.
Chapter 115
When she stepped out of her room, she spotted Tyler waiting right outside. There was a hint of annoyance on his face. She couldn’t help but smile must’ve overheard her talking about selling the tiara.
“Do I look good?” she teased. “You know you’re not supposed to sneak a peek before the big moment. Breaking the rules already?”
Tyler shrugged. “Who cares about all those old rules? If I hadn’t come by, your mom and my parents would probably have a heart attack when they found out what you’ve been up to.”
Eleanor laughed. “Guess some people are going to be disappointed.”
“You mean Chris and Serena?” Tyler said. “Serena’s been trying so hard to win your mom over, but Linda just won’t give her the time of day.”
Eleanor said lightly, “Honestly, if Serena wasn’t her rival’s daughter–and didn’t insist on following in her footsteps–Mom might actually think she’s pretty impressive.”
Tyler smirked. “What goes around comes around. No matter how good the act, it’s still just an act.”
“It’s about time. Let’s go,” Tyler said, offering his hand. Eleanor grinned and slipped her hand into his.
Underneath the azure sky, the wedding ceremony unfolded in a sun–drenched garden, where ancient oaks stood sentinel over a sea of meticulously manicured lawns. The air was perfumed with the scent of blooming roses and lavender, and the soft murmur of a nearby fountain added a touch of serenity. The guests, dressed in their finest, sat beneath a grand marquee adorned with delicate silk drapes and fresh floral garlands. The whole place was buzzing with excitement.
The music, grand, elegant, and full of old–world charm, was performed live by musicians dressed in exquisite suits.
“I heard Mr. Langford really went all out for this wedding,” someone whispered. “Look at the outfits and decorations. There are photographers and videographers, tight security, and the most expensive wedding planners. He really put his heart into it.”
“No kidding. Even people from the city came out to offer their congratulations. That’s some serious respect.”
Hearing all this, Serena couldn’t help but feel a wave of jealousy.
Her own wedding had been nothing like this–nowhere near as lively, and Eleanor had ruined it for her. Whatever. Ethan must have taken care of things by now. There’s no way Eleanor was showing up to this wedding.
Serena glanced over at Linda, who was chatting with the guests. She’d tried to say hi earlier, but Linda barely acknowledged her. ‘What’s she got to be so pissed off with? She chose to trust me before–guess she only has herself to blame for being so blind,‘ She thought.
“Serena, are you still upset that Linda ignored you just now?” Chris asked, catching the look in her eyes.
She used to be Linda’s adopted daughter. Now that her husband was the nephew of Linda’s son–in–law, she could almost call her “Grandma Linda“—that was pretty weird.
“Yeah,” Serena slipped her arm through Chris. “It’s just one minute ago she’s ‘Aunt Linda,’ and now I’m supposed to call her ‘Grandma Linda.‘ It feels so strange. Chris, do you think I did wrong?”
Chris fell silent, his expression complicated as he looked at Serena. Her face looked so innocent, especially with those big, wide eyes–yet the memory of that recording just made him feel restless.
“Chris, are you letting it get to you too?” Serena whispered, her face full of hurt.
“Serena, I want to believe you. I know
you wouldn’t hurt anyone,” Chris said quietly. “But please, just tell me—are you hiding anything from me?”
“You still don’t trust me,” Serena turned her head away. “Now that you have me, you don’t care anymore. Maybe we should just get divorced.” Chris was about to say something, but was cut off by the loud call, “Let’s welcome the bride and groom as they make their way down the aisle!”
A few moments went by, but no one showed up.

Chapter 115
“Let’s welcome the bride and groom!”
Still, there was no sign of them.
Chris was caught off guard, wondering what was happening, when he noticed a strange, almost sinister smile tug at the corners of Serena’s mouth. A chilling thought flashed through his mind.
“They’re here! They’re here!” someone in the crowd shouted, and the guests erupted in cheers.
Serena’s smile froze on her face. “No way.”
Chris heard her and immediately grabbed her hand. “What do you mean?”
