Chapter 117
Chapter 117
“Aren’t you supposed to be out there with the guests?” Eleanor couldn’t be bothered to explain. “And since when did you start eavesdropping?”
Tyler walked over to her, twirling a strand of her long hair between his fingers. “If I hadn’t come back, I wouldn’t have heard what you just said. Before, might not mind it, but now that we’re married, I want us to face everything together.”
“In that case, I’ll spare you the mood–killing speech,” Eleanor chuckled. “Otherwise.”
Before she could finish, his lips were on hers, cutting her off.
Maybe it was because they’d just had the ceremony, so Tyler was a little rougher this time, taking charge and kissing her with a fierce passion. The softness of his touch sent a jolt through her, a tingling sensation spreading all over her body.
After a long moment, Tyler finally let her go. He gently brushed her slightly swollen lips, his voice low and husky. “Keep talking like that, and your punishment tonight will be even worse.”
Eleanor’s cheeks flushed bright red. She turned her head away. “You’re impossible. Get out, I need to change.”
“Do I really need to leave?” Tyler said, smilingly.
Eleanor shot him an incredulous look. She used to think he was cold and untouchable, but now she realized that was just an act–he was actually jocular.
And now, in broad daylight, he was being shameless.
“Tyler, we haven’t slept, you know,” Eleanor laughed, grabbing his hand. “I’m not used to undressing in front of a man yet.”
Tyler didn’t push her any further. “Alright, I’ll go greet the guests.”
“Okay.” Eleanor nodded.
Eleanor had just taken off her coat when she heard footsteps behind her. “Tyler, back again already?”
There was no response. Eleanor was just about to turn around when Chris’s voice suddenly cut in, “You haven’t slept? So nothing ever happened between you and Tyler. This is all just payback, isn’t it?”
Startled, Eleanor spun around and glared at Chris, her face turning cold. “Chris, ever heard of boundaries?”
Chris had followed Tyler over and accidentally overheard their conversation. The realization made his heart race. This meant Eleanor was just putting on an act–she was the last person who’d actually want to break up. That had to be it.
After the initial excitement, Chris forced himself to calm down. “Eleanor, I know you still have feelings for me, but there’s no way for us anymore.”
Eleanor scoffed, “If that’s all you came to say, then you can leave now.”
“You keep going after me and Serena, isn’t it just to get revenge? You spent a fortune on this wedding just to embarrass her. You-“.
“Enough!” Eleanor’s face hardened as she cut him off. “It’s my wedding day. I don’t want to deal with you, but don’t make me get physical.”
Chris instinctively took a step back.
Eleanor spotted a long whip nearby and walked over to pick it up. With a sudden flick, she cracked it right at Chris’s feet with a sharp snap.
Chris jumped, staring at Eleanor like she was some kind of monster. “How do you even know how to do that?”
Eleanor smirked. “There’s a lot you don’t know about me. I don’t want to see blood today, but if you get too cocky, you’ll get what’s coming to you.”
Chris stared at her, his voice low. “I just want to know–can you really throw away seven years just like that? Don’t you feel anything at all?”

“What, you want me to cry myself to sleep every night?” Eleanor sneered. “So, what do you actually want?”
Chris hesitated. Serena had been jealous about the wedding and kept pestering him to use his ex status to stir up some drama and embarrass Eleanor And somehow, he’d actually agreed.
“I used to be Eleanor’s sister, and now I’m her niece by marriage. If you want to get in with her, you’ll have to go through me.”
Hearing Serena’s voice approaching, Eleanor shot Chris a cold, mocking look. “So this is your grand plan? Chris, you’re honestly a joke.”
Chris opened his mouth to speak, but something flashed in front of his eyes–and then pain exploded across his cheek.
Eleanor’s whip landed on his face, merciless and sharp.
Chris reached up and felt a bloody scratch on his cheek. Before he could react, another lash struck him hard.
“Are you out of your mind?” Chris yelled, wincing in pain.
“If I don’t go a little crazy, how else will you ever learn?” Eleanor snapped.
Seeing Eleanor raise the whip again, Chris panicked and bolted for the door. Even so, she still managed to land one last hit square on his back.
Chris burst out the door, nearly running straight into Serena, who was leading a group of socialites down the hall.
“Chris, what happened to you?” Serena hurried over, eyeing his disheveled state. “Did you fall or something? I know Eleanor’s your ex, but you really shouldn’t get so worked up. Just let it go, okay?”
Chris looked at Serena, his face a mess of tangled emotions.
Serena turned to the women behind her and introduced him with a sweet smile. “This is my husband, Chris. He and Eleanor have always been super close.”
Then, as if suddenly realizing she’d said too much, Serena put on a regretful face. “Oh, did I say too much? I didn’t mean to badmouth Eleanor. Tyler knew all about her past with Chris and still chose to marry her. He must really love her.”
Some of the guests who were in the know immediately caught on and shot Serena looks of contempt. But one less worldly young woman, Lydia Reed, couldn’t help but speak up for Serena, “Serena, why is he even here? Isn’t this supposed to be the bride’s lounge?”
That was exactly what Serena was waiting for. She turned to Chris with a look of feigned surprise and asked, “Chris, what are you doing here?”
“Isn’t it obvious? They’re totally having an affair. I can’t believe I used to think the bride was pretty. This is disgusting,” Lydia shouted.
Another young woman, Xyla Reed, cutin. “Lydia, do you ever even go online?”
Lydia scoffed, “Why would I bother? I never have to spend my own money when I go out. My parents spoil me rotten. I grew up overseas and got a way better education than anyone here. There’s always someone to cook for me, and a car waiting outside. Xyla, being my cousin doesn’t mean you’re my
equal.”
As Lydia kept rambling, Xyla’s face was twisted in disgust. But when Lydia blurted out, “I’m not like today’s bride–so shameless. If I were her, sleeping with the nephew and then the uncle, I’d just carve ‘slut‘ on my own face,” Xyla almost laughed out.
She knew her cousin all too well. Lydia was genuinely clueless–not malicious, just spoiled to the point of being completely self–centered. To her, everything was black and white, and she had zero concept of money–she didn’t even know you had to pay for things. Whenever she went out, someone always tagged along to take care of her, like she was a three–year–old.
But if Lydia ever pissed off Tyler, Xyla believed everything would change. Serena’s acting was so pathetic, and Lydia actually bought it. Seriously, she was so dumb.
“Don’t talk about Eleanor like that,” Serena said. “There has to be some kind of misunderstanding. Chris, explain yourself–don’t let Tyler get the wrong idea.”

“My husband won’t get the wrong idea,” Eleanor said as she walked out of the house. She’d changed into a crisp white blouse and a bright red skirt, holding a long whip in her hand. “Chris, go ahead and tell Tyler–I’m the one who hit you.”
Serena looked distressed. “Eleanor, how could you hit Chris?”
Eleanor twirled the whip in her hand. “So what if I did? Do I need a reason? Serena, you always pull the same stunt. Can’t you try something new for once? Or do you just like reminding everyone you were the other woman?”
Lydia couldn’t take it anymore. “You’re just trying to turn things around! My dad and Mr. Langford are close–Mr. Langford must’ve been tricked by you! I’m going to have my dad talk to him right now!”
Eleanor shot her a cold look. “Who are you? You don’t look too bright.”
Lydia stomped her foot hard. “No one’s ever dared to go against me before! I can’t stand you. You must get punished.”
“That’s enough,” Serena said quietly. “She and Chris already broke up–she can marry whoever she wants. Honestly, I’m grateful she gave Chris back to
me.”
Eleanor let out a cold laugh. What a clever way to put it–‘gave him back.”
“Serena, since you’re so set on making trouble today, I guess it’s time to settle the score. And you–just some random stranger, but you sure like to butt
in.”
All of a sudden, Serena found Eleanor a little intimidating. No matter how much she’d bullied her before, Eleanor had never looked so fierce. But ever since she broke up with Chris, it was like she’d turned into a whole different person,
“Don’t worry, Eleanor, I won’t tell Tyler about any of this,” Chris said quickly.
Eleanor just sneered, pulled out her phone, and called Tyler. “Where are you? Come over here, I need you for something.”
