Chapter 33 The Drama Unfolding
“I’m in a pretty great mood,” Eleanor said with a grin, walking over to Tyler. “Especially after seeing their faces when things didn’t go the way they planned. Honestly, it was kind of satisfying.”
Tyler nodded. “Just don’t get too carried away. Try not to hurt yourself while you’re enjoying the show.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Eleanor’s gaze drifted to the bed. “By the way… are we sharing the bed tonight?”
Tyler looked up at her. “Is that going to be a problem?”
Eleanor bit her lip, voice soft. “It’s just… I’ve never shared a bed with a guy before. It feels a little awkward. Are we just sleeping, or…?”
Tyler shot her a knowing smile.. “If you’re thinking of anything else, I’m game.”
Eleanor quickly waved it off, flüstered. “No, no, nothing like that. I’m not feeling well today–maybe on period.”
Tyler glanced at her, clearly not buying it, but he didn’t push. “We agreed I’d respect your boundaries. You can take the bed, I’ll sleep on the floor.
That’s not right,” Eleanor murmured. “You’re the host. How can the host sleep on the floor?”
Tyler gave her a blank look. “So… are you a guest?”
Eleanor paused, then shrugged. “Forget it. Let’s just split the bed. No big deal. Actually, in my family, it’s considered bad luck for a married couple to sleep in the same room.”
Tyler chuckled. “Seriously? That’s a thing?”
“Absolutely.” Eleanor nodded solemnly. Since Tyler wasn’t the type to dig into the details, making something up worked just fine. “You’re not going to fact–check me, are you?”
“Alright, alright.” Tyler smiled. “I’ll go along with it. But maybe we should tell Chris too.”
“No need. That rule doesn’t apply to adopted kids,” Eleanor said, then wandered over to the window and glanced outside. “Your place is pretty big.”
Realizing how that sounded, she quickly added, “Not that I haven’t been here before or anything…”
“Yeah,” Tyler said. “My parents live here. It gets quiet, no one to talk to. You should stop by more often and keep them company.
“Sure,” Eleanor nodded. “But why’d you move out, Tyler?”
Tyler’s face was unreadable. “We’re adults. Better to keep the peace.”
Eleanor gave him a knowing look. “Yeah. With your brother and sister–in–law around,

living under the same roof would be hell.”
“Let’s not talk about them,” Tyler said, brushing it off. “Tomorrow, let’s go look at wedding dresses. Don’t want anyone saying you got married without the proper ceremony.”
“Ooh, wedding dress shopping?” Eleanor’s eyes lit up. “Now that’s more like it. I honestly thought you’d just sign the papers and call it a day.”
“You think I’m that careless?” Tyler laughed.
Just then, noise erupted from outside.
“What’s going on?” Eleanor asked.
Tyler frowned, stood, and headed out. Eleanor trailed after him to stop a passing maid. “What’s all the commotion?”
“It’s Miss Farrell, the new bride,” the maid replied, throwing Eleanor a curious glance.” She’s throwing a fit downstairs, saying your wife’s behavior is inappropriate. She wasn‘ t holding back either.”
Tyler’s brows drew together. “Did you do something to set her off?” he asked Eleanor.
“Nope,” Eleanor said. “Let’s go see what’s going on.”
Serena, barely holding back her disgust, had just finished tidying up the mess and helping Chris back to his room. The moment he hit the bed, he started mumbling. Eleanor’s name in his sleep, making Serena seethe with anger.
They say drunk words are sober thoughts, and clearly, Chris still had feelings for Eleanor. Serena had thought she won by taking Chris away, but never expected Eleanor to turn around and chase after Tyler instead.
If she could get Tyler to believe Eleanor was scheming, maybe he’d consider divorce. With that in mind, Serena made her move–dramatically flinging herself to the living room floor and bursting into tears.
Rumors travel fastest on wagging tongues, and she knew exactly how to stir the pot. Eleanor stepped into the living room to find Serena bawling on the floor, face streaked with tears. She wasn’t answering anyone–just shaking her head and crying even louder.
“Oh, stop crying already!” Kara stormed in, glaring. “It’s your wedding day, not a funeral! Why are you here sobbing instead of looking after your husband?”
Serena looked up with teary eyes. “Sorry, Kara. I just needed some air. But I twisted my ankle, and then I heard Chris call out Eleanor’s name… My heart just broke. We’re all under one roof–I’m scared–they–might start things up again.”
Kara narrowed her eyes before smacking her across the face. “Don’t you dare stir up drama. You can’t even take care of your husband, and now this?”
“I’m sorry,” Serena said, voice trembling. “But Chris said Eleanor’s name while drunk. It

must’ve hit him hard–her marrying Tyler, I mean. What if they really get back together and bring shame to our family?”
Kara gave her a withering glare. “You can’t just say whatever nonsense pops into your head. Do you even care how this looks to others?”
“I shouldn’t have made a scene.” Serena wiped her tears and stood. “Eleanor, could we talk for a moment? The garden’s a good place for a chat.”
Éleanor gave her a slow once–over. “Sure. But you really don’t know how to keep things private, do you? Saying all that in front of everyone… You’re basically begging for gossip. And let me tell you–if someone else had taken care of Chris, he might’ve called out their name too. Crying won’t fix anything. You’re not a kid.”
“Exactly,” Tyler chimed in, his tone cool. “Honestly, the way you went on, it almost sounded like Eleanor and your husband have some kind of… special bond. If you keep dragging up the past and making a mess, don’t blame us when old secrets start resurfacing.”
Serena lowered her gaze, mind spinning. “Eleanor… how can you just stop loving. someone like that? If you’re just using Tyler, what happens when it all ends? Let’s go talk in the garden, okay?”
“Fine by me,” Eleanor said, not backing down an inch. She was genuinely curious to see what Serena was plotting this time.
