Chapter 45 Wedding Gown
“Is that so?” Eleanor said. “I thought-” Eleanor paused mid–sentence, deep in thought.
“The fire back then, your father might know something,” Tyler suddenly said. “Why not wait for him to speak up on his own? The Donovan Group is your mother’s life’s work. How could I possibly take it over?
“It’s just that if someone has the idea, and you happen to hold on to it. It might solve al lot of problems.
Eleanor pursed her lips; that was exactly what she had been thinking about. “Would Chris be so overconfident?”
“A person’s ambition can be quite vast. To win a beauty’s smile, some men are willing to do anything,” Tyler said. “It all depends on how well Serena can act. Are you willing to play along with her?”
Eleanor tugged at the corner of her mouth. “Tyler, I think you are really looking forward
to it.”
“Really?” Tyler raised his hand and caressed Eleanor’s cheek. “I just don’t want to see you feeling down. You still care about your mother. If there’s a thorn in your heart, why not just pull it out?”
Eleanor gazed at Tyler. “It really is a good way to solve the problem.”
Tyler explained, “Yes. The public opinion online has already fermented. Netizens have once again dug up how Chris betrayed you and trampled on your feelings in the past. They even found out that before you and Chris got engaged, the two of them went to buy an engagement ring together.
“And the salesperson testified that they went as a couple. It doesn’t matter how Chris sees what happened in Himvar back then. What’s important is what the netizens. believe. Although it’s a bit underhanded, to achieve our goal, we can use some means.”
“In this way, they won’t be able to use public opinion against us,” Eleanor said. “There’s just one thing I’ve always wondered about. What’s the point of a bunch of strangers ranting online?
“If someone doesn’t care about social media, no matter how harshly those people criticize, it won’t affect them,
“After all, it’s a place where ho one knows each other,” Tyler said. “Sometimes using public opinion to create momentum is very effective. Don’t overthink it. Use it to your advantage.
“Everything has its pros and con: successfully unlocked! e internet can be very helpful for those who have no power or influctice.
“I know. Someone once told me that not everyone is as fortunate as I am,” Eleanor smiled lightly. “For some people, if they’re already depressed, their condition might get

worse.
“It seems you already understand what to do,” Tyler said. “Now, let’s go somewhere.”
Eleanor looked at the storefront. “Why are we here?”
“It’s a wedding dress shop. What do you think?” Tyler led Eleanor into the store.
The salesperson greeted them. “Hello, Mr. Langford. The silk satin wedding gown your ordered is all ready. Would your partner like to try it on, or shall I deliver it to your home?”
“She will try it on. Eleanor, I’ll wait for you here,” Tyler said, walking over to the sofa and sitting down.
Eleanor glanced at Tyler. “Really, it’s not necessary, is it?”
“Why not?” Tyler countered. “I want to see how you look in the wedding gown.”
“Mrs. Langford, it won’t take long to try it on,” the salesperson added.
One reason Eleanor didn’t want to try it on was that she was worried the wedding gown wouldn’t fit.
Although Tyler said it was made according to her measurements, she didn’t believe he could remember that clearly. If the gown is too tight and I can’t get it on, that would be too embarrassing, she thought to herself.
In the end, Eleanor still followed the salesperson into the fitting room.
When she put on the wedding gown, Eleanor was stunned. The dress fit perfectly, as if it had been tailor–made for her.
Eleanor walked out in the wedding gown, and Tyler, who had been sitting on the sofa, brightened up. He looked her over and nodded. “It fits well.”
Eleanor looked at herself in the mirror/wearing the wedding gown, and her mood seemed to improve.
“Mr. Langford, the makeup artist didn’t come today. If you need her, please make an appointment in advance. With the right hairstyle, Mrs. Langford will look even more beautiful,” the salesperson said.
Tyler nodded, took out a black card, and handed it to the salesperson. “Since you offer a full–service package, it saves me the trouble. Leave the wedding photos and the wedding arrangements to you.”
“Alright,” the salesperson said, taking the card. “We’ll ensure that we arrange a grand wedding that will satisfy you.”
Eleanor looked at Tyler. “Won’t it be too conspicuous?”
Tyler walked over to Eleanor. “Actually, I’m a bit worried. I forgot to prepare a matching wedding gown for myself.”
Eleanor looked at Tyler and suddenly laughed.
“What’s so funny?” Tyler asked.

“Nothing, I’m just happy,” Eleanor said.
Tyler smiled as well.

Eleanor said, “Tyler, I think I understand why you had such an expensive wedding gown made. The embroidery on it is hand–done, and it’s double–sided, which takes a long time. Were you trying to buy some time?”
Tyler laughed. “You figured it out?”
“Who prepares a wedding gown only for the bride?” Eleanor said. “If we hadn’t gotten. married, this wedding gown would have just stayed in the store, right?”
“Yes.” Tyler nodded. “It’s a good way to explain to my mom.”
Eleanor didn’t ask anything further; this answer was good enough. She didn’t need to invite any more unpleasantness.
“All coincidences are God’s arrangements,” Tyler said suddenly. “Since it fits you so well, it means that somehow it was meant for you.
“You can see clearly that I haven’t been flirtatious with any other woman. The person mentioned to you last time was someone I liked when I was younger.”
Eleanor felt like her secret had been seen through. She clasped her hands together and whispered, “I didn’t mean to force you.
“I need to clarify this to avoid anyone saying anything misleading to you, Tyler said.” There happen to be men’s wedding gowns here as well. I’ll just pick a plain one.”
Eleanor changed back into her clothes and watched Tyler discuss things with the salesperson. “Okay, I need to confirm these details with my wife. A wedding only happens once, and her satisfaction is the most important thing.”
“Mr. Langford, you really are a model husband. I’ve heard that successful men take good care of their wives,” the salesperson complimented.
“You flatter me. My wife is even better,” Tyler said,
Noticing Tyler’s glance, Eleanor felt a bit shy. Someone had joked before that Tyler was an excellent match, and every woman wanted to marry him. Now the joke had come true, and Eleanor thought the person had been right.
Previously, when planning her wedding with Chris, she had handled everything. Every time she asked for his opinion, Chris would be dismissive. “I don’t know. You decide.”
“It really is nice not having to be responsible for all the arrangements, Eleanor thought to herself.
Tyler waved to ge
get Eleanor’s attention and confirmed some details with her.
“Getting married is quite a hassle. How about we simplify it even more?” Tyler said.
“Mr. Langford, this is already quite simplified. You just need to go through the ceremony without any speeches. If we shorten it further, the sense of ceremony will

be lost,” the salesperson said.
Tyler looked at Eleanor for her opinion.
“It’s fine, but do both sets of parents need to be present?” Eleanor frowned. “That’s going to be tricky.”
