Kara stared blankly at the diamond bangle on Martha’s wrist.
Eleanor glanced at Kara and gave a provocative smile. “Kara, don’t glare at me like that. I’m scared and I don’t dare accept it.”
“Don’t be afraid,” Martha said. “This bracelet isn’t given out in order. It’s only for the head of the family’s daughter–in–law. I’ve never wronged Kara.”
“I know. Kara was afraid I’d think something and offered to give me the ruby bracelet before. I didn’t dare take it,” Eleanor said. “Madam Langford, since I’m benefiting from Tyler, I’ll accept it.”
Martha looked at Kara. “You’re quite considerate. Where were we just now? Kara, you haven’t changed your mindset yet and still think of Eleanor as Chris’s fiancée. Some things Eleanor can guide on, but it’s not mandatory for her to do so.”
Kara forced a smile. “Yes, you’re right, Madam Langford.”
Martha’s gaze fell on Serena, not as gentle as when she looked at Eleanor, but filled with coldness. “You’ll never change your bad habits.”
Serena lowered her eyes.
“Don’t you dare cry,” Eleanor suddenly said. “You always cry, and it’s so annoying. Let me remind you again. You’re not a mermaid. Your tears won’t turn into pearls.”
“Why are you so mean, Eleanor?” Serena said, her lips trembling with grievance.
“Mean? That’s great,” Eleanor smiled. “If you think I’m kind, I’d feel guilty. Otherwise, wouldn’t I be just like you?”
Serena really started to cry.
Chris wanted to say something, but a glance from Tyler instantly deflated him.
Chris clenched his fists. It was always like this; he was always overpowered by Tyler’s
presence.
“Chris, it seems your family still hasn’t gotten used to the fact that Eleanor is my wife now. Indeed, it looks like we should plan the wedding,” Tyler said. “Chris, remember your place. You need to respect Eleanor.”
“Tyler, I feel so difficult now,” Eleanor propped her cheek with her hand and sighed. ” Because you prepared the women’s wedding gown in advance, now there are two voices. Some say you wanted to take me away from Chris long ago, and that I had already hooked up with you.
“Others say you had a sweethear successfully unlocked! OU, so you gave me the wedding gown. I’m really in a tough spot. I should be the one crying.”
Martha felt heartbroken. “Who’s spreading such nonsense? I know best whether Tyler has a girlfriend or not. Just because he ordered a wedding gown in advance, people

have so much to say.
“Serena, if I ordered a coffin for you in advance, does that mean you’re going to die?”
Serena’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Martha, moved her lips, but couldn‘ t utter a word, and her tears flowed even harder.
“Grandma, that’s too much,” Chris said, feeling a pang of sympathy.
“Is this too much?” Martha said. “Don’t you know that a harmonious family is a prosperous one?”
“Madam Langford, you’re right,” Kara said beside her. “We will be more mindful in the future.”
“That’s good,” Martha said. “Serena, there is one thing Eleanor is right about. Always crying can be very annoying.”
“I know, but sometimes I can’t control it,” Serena whispered. “I have no one to rely on, and when I’m bullied, I can only hide and cry alone. Gradually, it became a habit. I won’t try to justify myself.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t meet you earlier to protect you all these years,” Chris said, holding Serena’s hand with a look of regret.
“The past is the past,” Martha said. “Now you still cry all the time. If people see it, they’ll think we’re bullying you in some way.”
“Mom, seriously, we did bully her just now,” Tyler said slowly. “We just refused to let Eleanor be a nanny for Chris.”
“Is that bullying her?” Martha asked.
Tyler nodded. “I think so. She married to enjoy life, not to serve others. After Eleanor and Chris broke up, I asked around Chris’s people, and someone named Logan Weller said that Chris treated Eleanor like a nanny, never as a girlfriend.
“Eleanor learned massage for Chris, but Chris used it to show off. To put it bluntly, Chris treated Eleanor like a call girl from some seedy place. If anyone took a liking to Eleanor, maybe Chris would let her sleep with them.”
Martha became angry. “Chris, you used to bully Eleanor like this.”
“No.” Chris defended himself, “Logan likes Eleanor, and Eleanor attracts attention everywhere. Tyler, you should be careful about being cheated on. Logan said that just to slander me.”
“If you really want to say that, then I can arrange for you to confront each other,” Chris said. “Since we’ve all made our choices, I didn’t want to bring up the past.
“But some people just don’t know when to stop, so I guess we have to settle this.”
“I’m the one who’s wrong.”
“You’re the one who’s wrong.”

Two voices rang out at the same time. Eleanor looked at Serena. “I knew you’d say that. Next, you’ll say you’re willing to get a divorce and that you shouldn’t have come back. Come on, try something more sophisticated. Let’s take it up a notch.
“Don’t just talk. Why not jump off a building? Of course, you don’t actually have to jump. I’m sure you wouldn’t really commit suicide. I really do admire your shamelessness.”
Chris clenched his fists. “Grandma, Tyler, you’re all biased. It’s obvious who’s being bullied here. Eleanor, I’ve already apologized to you. What more do you want?”
“I don’t want anything,” Eleanor said. “I just want to keep my distance from you, but you insist on provoking me. What am I supposed to do? Maybe, Chris, in your mind, since I‘ m a nanny, I should serve you?
“Serena, seriously, as Chris’s wife, you should care about his health. You’re not hoping for him to die early so you can inherit his fortune, are you?”
Serena looked horrified. “I didn’t.”
“Then you should learn how to take care of him. Are you really dumber than I and can’t learn on your own? If that’s the case, it only shows that you
don’t love him enough to endure a little hardship.” Eleanor lightly tapped her fingers on the table, lecturing. “Also, about the thing between you and my father, how can you say I’m an accomplice?
“Did I make you two get together? For the sake of the Donovan family’s reputation, I’ve kept quiet all this time. If you hadn’t really angered me, I wouldn’t have mentioned it.
“Of course, I admit I deliberately let Mom know about it at your wedding. That day, if you hadn’t tried to sneak a photo of me, it wouldn’t have become public knowledge.”
“What?” Martha was astonished. “What is this all about?”
