Chapter 78 A Failed Scheme
“Who are you?‘ Lila asked, her gaze narrowing as Serena approached
“I can give you what you want, Serena said “T
“I remember now, Lila cut her off abruptly “You’re the one who shoots those micro dramas but can’t even bother to learn your hoes The whole industry is laughing at you
“What, did you hear I was coming and think you could get something out of me? 12me make one thing clear that’s not happening People like you, always looking for shortcuts–1 can’t stand it.”
Serens’s face stiffened, a flicker of anger flashing in her eyes before she quickly masked it with a composed expression.” Miss Vance, you’ve got it all wrong. I’m not here for that I’m here to tell you why Angust refuses to go back.”
Lila frowned. “You seem to know a lot. Why? Are you so invested in this because you have some ulterior motive?”
“Of course not. I’m just trying to look out for you? Serena replied. “Angust is staying here because there’s someone he likes. And that person? She’s the one who stole my role.
“She has a habit of stealing other people’s men too. She even had an inappropriate relationship with my husband.”
“Really?”
“It’s true. Miss Vance, I just don’t want you to end up like me.”
Lila stared at Serena, her thoughts racing. Does she really think I don’t know? I’ve seen the rumors online–this woman is the real homewrecker.
“The internet is full of people asking how someone who was a mistress herself could have the audacity to play the victim of infidelity, all while refusing to put in any effort!
Still, Lila had no intention of exposing Serena just yet. She was curious to see what Serena’s true agenda was.
“Miss Vance, we’ve got a common enemy. I think it’s time we joined forces.”
Lila finally caught on to Serena’s meaning–she was looking for someone to help her take down a rival. Lila couldn’t quite remember the girl’s name, but she did recall her having a sweet, innocent look.
“Miss Vance, you’re Angust’s fiancée. You have every right to put her in her place. Why not use your influence to shut her dawn?”
“You’ve been talking for ages, but I still don’t know who you’re talking about.”
“Her name is Eleanor Donovan. She’s been busy planning her wedding, trying to marry into the wealthiest family in town. Miss Vance, you can’t just let her get her way.”
“And why should I care? If she’s getting married, shouldn’t I be happy about it?”
“But Angust won’t stop liking her just because she’s married. We need to make sure everyone sees her true colors. Miss Vance, with your massive fanbase, they’d definitely stand up for justice on your behalf.”
Hidden in the shadows, Angust listened with growing disgust. Then his gaze shifted to Lila. He was curious to see what she was going to do.
“My goal here is to bring Angust back to finalize the wedding, not to get caught up in unnecessary drama,” Lila said. “Your personal grudges are none of my business.”
Seeing that Lila was about to turn her down, Serena clenched her fists tightly. “Angust didn’t just come to this city for. Eleanor. He’s writing a script for her and even plans to perform alongside her. Can you really tolerate that?”
“What did you just say?” Lila’s gaze snapped to Serena. “Perform together?”
“That’s right. Honestly, I don’t get how you’re still sticking around,” Serena said softly..
Lila lowered her eyes, her expression thoughtful as she fell silent.
“Miss Vance, if you ask me, you should make a big scene. With enough public pressure, she’ll have no choice but to back off.”
Lila waved her hand dismissively. “I don’t need you to tell me how to handle my affairs.”
As Lila walked into the hotel, Serena’s face twisted with frustration. This plan was a dead end, but she still had other cards to play.
Serena was just about to leave when someone Successfully unlocked!er. She looked up and saw Angust, and a
wave of panic surged through her.
Angust leaned casually against the wall, his tone light but laced with mockery. “Well, well, Serena. You’ve got some guts, talking trash about me.”
There was a smirk on his face, but instead of putting her at ease, it only made Serena feel more on edge. Knowing she was

in the wrong, she instinctively took a step back. “I don’t know what you’re talking about
“Oh, I heard every word,” Angust said. “And let me remind you, Eleanor is your aunt by marriage. Is this how you talk about her? I wonder if you’d dare let Lila know the truth about your little feud with Eleanor.”
“Oh please. You’re the one hopelessly in love and stuck playing Eleanor’s doormat. Let me tell you something–never underestimate a woman’s jealousy.”
Angust shook his head. “You’re absolutely ridiculous.”
“Let’s see who comes out on top,” Serena snapped, her voice dripping with venom Just because she was born with everything handed to her, does that mean she deserves a better life than me? And you all–status means nothing when you re failures in love.”
“Honestly, I have to hand it to you,” Angust said. “It takes a special kind of shamelessness to twist the truth the way you do You’re the one wrecking relationships, yet you have the audacity to call someone else a homewrecker?
“I’m not wrong.” Serena shouted. “In love, the one who’s not loved is the real homewrecker. Eleanor’s just been clinging to Chris all these years because of their family ties. If I had her kind of background, I could have anything I wanted too” Angust chuckled. “You’ve always had a thing for wanting what’s not yours. Here’s a little tip–why not go after Tyler? That’d be your ultimate win. Isn’t seduction your specialty?”
Serena froze, her expression betraying a flicker of panic. Angust’s words hit too close to home. She had entertained such thoughts before. Back when she managed to steal Chris, she’d been ecstatic, thinking it would crush Eleanor
Eleanor nearly lost her mind when she found out Serena and Chris were in love. But now? Eleanor didn’t seem to care at all. She had moved on to Tyler in no time. The sheer audacity of it made Serena’s blood boil.
She didn’t dare make a direct move on Tyler, but she could ruin Eleanor’s reputation. If Tyler started doubting Eleanor, it might lead to their breakup–that was the plan Serena had in mind.
Angust smirked, tapping his forehead as if he’d just remembered something. “Oh, right. I forgot–you don’t have the guts for that.”
Serena said, “And what about you, Angust? If you’re so into Eleanor, why don’t you make a move? Oh, wait, let me spill a little secret–she’s still a virgin. I overheard her saying she’s saving herself for marriage.”
Angust nodded. “Good to know. Thanks for the intel, Serena. I think I’ll ask Eleanor out for a movie tonight.”
Serena’s heart raced with excitement. If she could get proof, she’d have Lila eating out of her hand. And if Lila refused? No problem. She’d unleash Lila’s rabid fanbase–those brainless zealots would do anything for their idol.
A wicked smile spread across Serena’s face. This time, she’d make sure Eleanor regretted ever crossing her.
